Advancing religious literacy

Events

Westar Institute – home of the Jesus Seminar – invites members of the general public into conversation with scholars of religion at national and regional events throughout the year. These events provide opportunities for scholars to discuss questions that matter about religion with people from diverse backgrounds and interests.

National Meetings

Westar holds two national meetings per year, in spring and fall. These meetings are open to the general public and feature workshops and lectures for non-specialists, conducted by Westar Fellows and other leading figures in the scholarship of religion.

Regional Programs: Jesus Seminars on the Road

Each year, Westar holds 20–25 regional programs, called Jesus Seminars on the Road (JSOR), across North America. Led by Westar Fellows, these programs are open to the general public and designed for non-specialists who may or may not be familiar with the Jesus Seminar and other scholarly projects.
