'He treats me like a queen!' Columbus Short's new girlfriend Rashida Russel 'doesn't care about his violent past'

After facing accusations of domestic violence against his estranged wife, Columbus Short's new girlfriend is standing by her man, insisting that he's the perfect gentleman in their relationship.

Rashida Russel tells TMZ that the two met while on vacation in Barbados recently, and their romance intensified once they made it back to the US.

Columbus, who was accused of threatening to kill estranged wife Tanee McCall, has since moved her from New York City to his home in Atlanta, Georgia.

The beauty, who is said to be assisting her new beau as he embarks on a new career as a musician, tells the website of the former Scandal star: 'He treats me like a queen!'

Rashida's glowing report comes after a wave of negative headlines surrounding Columbus, who recently departed his $6,995-a-month California abode after reportedly falling behind on his rent.

According to TMZ, the landlord secured a court order to force Short to vacate the premises after five days.

The landlord told the website that he's not certain that the TV star actually paid back the rent before he upped and left.

It was the latest knock for Columbus after announcing in April that he would be leaving Scandal following his arrest for domestic violence

The 32-year-old actor portrayed Harrison Wright, the right hand man of star Kerry Washington's character Olivia Pope, for three seasons on the hit ABC political drama.

Short was arrested in February for alleged domestic violence assault against his estranged wife Tanee McCall.

McCall had previously filed for divorce in September 2013 and renewed her petition after the alleged domestic violence incident.

The actor also was arrested in March for allegedly assaulting a man during a bar room brawl in Los Angeles.

During a hearing in May, Columbus pleaded not guilty to felony battery for the fight.

He was also arrested on July 5 in Texas for public intoxication after an alleged shouting match with a security guard and a scuffle with off-duty Dallas police officers.

His Scandal character was last seen being held at gunpoint in the season three finale, and once the fourth season kicked off in autumn, it was revealed that he had been murdered.
