Good alternative to page based reading
A lot of thought has gone into the design of the structure and interface of this and it's a refreshing change from just flicking through digital pages like I used to on Zinio. It's definitely worth getting this ipad enhanced version, even for a few quid more per year if it works out to that.
Poor experience good content
The writing of this magazine is ok and they manage to get good insight and coverage of the industry but they try to hard to hard with the a digital experience.
Practically, it is slow and turning pages whilst waiting for an animation is painful and frustrating. The interaction with the press for content element hardly works which leads to further frustration as you can't skip around the magazine.
To be honest I wouldn't bother subscribing to this. A bit of a shambles.
Best Gaming Magazine Out There
Edge
Great journalism, in depth and passionate writing with a balance few other gaming magazines can boast. Great industry interviews. As an educator, this is a must for media and game students.
The app does what it should on my iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 and considering the amount of zooming in and out I do between page turns it's refreshingly unfussy to navigate.
