It was reported earlier this year there would be a third instalment of the Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants franchise.

And while none of the stars have confirmed their involvement, the friendship between Blake Lively, Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel and America Ferrera has certainly stood the test of time since starring in the first teen drama flick in 2005.

As America, 30, took to the stage on Saturday for her Off-Broadway show Lips Together, Teeth Apart, Blake, 27, and the girls were right there to support their pal.

In an Instagram picture shared by Amber, 31, the trio can be seen holding up the show's playbill inside New York's 2econd Stage Theater.

The actress captioned the happy snap: 'Go America! Supporting our girl in her play, Lips Together, Teeth Apart. #sisterhood.'

Mom-to-be Blake stepped out in a silk black and white puppy-print jumpsuit, cropped at the calves with an elasticated waistband to accommodate her growing belly.

She finished the look with a maroon winter coat, gold pumps and a deep red glossy lipstick.

Amber meanwhile also went for an autumnal-inspired ensemble in a cream blouse, black trousers and luxurious fur gilet.

America tweeted her appreciation of the girls, saying: 'Sisterhood dropped by matinee of #lipstogetherteethapart @2STNYC &made my day! I get by w/a lil’ help from my girls.'

Following the afternoon show. the ladies headed out to catch up over dinner at Bar Central.

The playbill for Lips Together, Teeth Apart describes the story as: 'It's the 4th of July on Fire Island where a brother and sister and their spouses are spending the quintessential American summer weekend in an unfamiliar setting.

'As their season in the sun unfolds, the two couples do their best to enjoy themselves despite their prejudices and insecurities.

'The grill is fired up, the drinks are cold and the pool is open but no one is going in.'

The Terrence McNally production returned to New York City for the first time in 23 years and began performances on October 7. The official opening however is not until November 5.

Nearly six months ago, it was announced by Alloy Entertainment that the fifth and final novel in the popular Ann Brashares series, Sisterhood Everlasting, would be turned into a film.

The ladies first starred together in 2005's Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants, before reuniting for the sequel in 2008.

Since the films, former Gossip Girl star Blake has dived into the blogosphere with her lifestyle site, Preserve, while also enjoying married life with her husband, Ryan Reynolds.

Amber has been starring alongside Ashton Kutcher in Two And A Half Men, while Alexis has had successful runs in Gilmore Girls and Mad Men.
