Are you sold on socks and sandals? Teva promotion celebrates trend in an effort to continue its fashion moment into fall
Practical-yet-ugly Teva sandals were one of summer's most unlikely trends. And now, the company is making an attempt to carry its fashion moment over into fall.
A new promotion celebrates the much maligned combination by offering the sandals with Woolrich socks as a $65 set at Urban Outfitters.
Models are seen wearing the velcro strap sandals with colorful socks and hipster-chic ensembles such as chambray shirt-dresses and acid wash joggers.

Fall trend? A new lookbook released by Teva celebrates the much maligned combination of socks and sandals
And in an appeal to the snap-happy Instagram set, a lookbook cover bears the hashtag 'SockAndSandals'.
But highly styled, long-limbed, airbrushed models are one thing, and real life is another. It remains to be seen whether America's most stylish will really adopt the look.
Certainly, socks and high-heeled sandals are a trend we have seen at Burberry, Prada and Marni in recent years - a quirky, schoolgirlish look that is no less flattering than an ankle boot.
And socks with loafers, as seen in Everlane's marketing, also taps into that preppy aesthetic.

But Tevas with woolly socks? The reception has been mixed to say the least. Femail's resident New York fashion expert, Olivia Fleming, summed it up concisely: 'Just don't,' she said.
And largely the press surrounding the release has ridiculed the look with Racked calling it 'unholy' and Jezebel 'horrifying', referring to Teva as 'monsters'.
But there are also many in the fashion industry who embrace such sartorial bravery. Fashion writer and editor Lauren Sherman says she would celebrate anyone prepared to take a risk and do something different with their style.

Trendsetters? We've seen socks with high heels - but will anyone be brave enough to wear socks with Tevas?
'I think that if anyone who has the confidence to style Tevas and socks together should be applauded,' she told MailOnline. 'Does it look great? Who cares!
In fact, she believes risk-taking is par for the course for genuine trendsetters.
'Personal style is about making bold, albeit sometimes goofy, choices,' she added.
