Peter Crouch jokes around with daughter Sophia at christening after missing penalty during kickabout... while wife Abbey struts across the pitch in slinky silver dress

He's the beanpole striker who has an impressive tally of goals under his belt in a professional capacity.

But it appears even Premier League player Peter Crouch has his off days.

The Stoke City star headed to a christening in his wife Abbey Clancy's native Liverpool earlier this week.

And he couldn't resist practising for his day job with an impromptu game of football after the ceremony.

Kicking off a game with two young fans, the suited and booted 33-year-old seemed keen to show off his prowess on the pitch and warmed up for a penalty shootout.

However, despite his years of experience and scoring 174 goals in 579 appearances, the 6 ft 7 forward hit the ball too hard - sending it flying over the crossbar.

Model Abbey managed fared better in representing her day job after she made quite the impact in a slinky white dress.

The blonde beauty was spotted strutting her way across the pitch in a pair of killer heels - maybe she was the reason her husband failed to impress during his kickabout.

However, Peter did have one avid supporter on the day in the form of his daughter, Sophia Ruby, three.

The tot couldn't wait to have some fun with her father and ran onto the grass before being bundled up in his arms and swung around.

The proud dad was spotted beaming as he enjoyed the special moment with his only child.

The couple, who have been married since 2011, have just returned from a romantic trip to Italy, where they spent some much needed time alone.

They were spotted visiting Casa di Giulietta - otherwise known as the house of Juliet, of Romeo and Juliet fame - in the picturesque Italian town of Verona.

While there, she stepped out onto the famous balcony, known as the spot from which Juliet spoke to her love-struck suitor, as her friend took snapshots from a nearby window.
