Their relationship has been strained at best over recent months, but after appearing to resolve their differences Chloe Sims and Ferne McCann are reportedly back in the ring as they vie for a place on the forthcoming series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.

The TOWIE pair are said to be keen on securing the last available slot after seeing pals Mark Wright and Joey Essex establish TV careers away from their constructed reality show, currently airing on new digital channel ITVBe.

Cast and crew, amongst them long-term presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, are scheduled to fly to Australia next month after casting for the new series is complete.

But with one slot still vacant, Chloe, 31, and 23-year-old Ferne are keen to make an appearance in the jungle camp alongside rumoured contestants Robbie Savage, Tulisa Contostavlos, Melanie Sykes and former Desperate Housewife Teri Hatcher.

Elsewhere co-stars Gemma Collins and Jessica Wright are also weighing up potentially lucrative appearances on the show, which pits its celebrity contingent against a series of gruesome ‘Bushtucker Trials’ in order to win meals for the camp.

‘It’s becoming really competitive between the TOWIE girls,’ a source told 3am. ‘They all really want to do it and are busily working on their bikini bodies.

In the mix: Co-star Gemma Collins is also said to be weighing up the possibility of an appearance on the popular show

The show, which pulls in an average 13 million viewers a year, has helped transform previously flagging careers thanks to its prime time position on ITV1.

Chloe and Ferne's friendship deteriorated over the summer when video footage emerged of Ferne - currently dating Chloe's younger brother Charlie - in the arms of another man while holidaying in Las Vegas.

Earlier this year TOWIE star Jessica admitted she was open to the possibility of emulating brother Mark by making an appearance in the jungle.

She said: ‘About a year ago, I couldn’t have done the jungle because I suffered from anxiety and I would have been a nervous wreck.

‘But since them I’ve become such a different person and really strong, so I’d absolutely embrace the jungle and love it.’
