It's Only Rock 'n' Roll! The Rolling Stones unveil 'largest stage ever' as they gear up to wow 50,000 in Adelaide after postponing Australian tour due to death of L'Wren Scott

Mick Jagger's snake hips are about to be let loose on Adelaide with a special runway erected for the master performer to strut his stuff.

One fourth of the iconic Rolling Stones Jagger, 71, and co, Ronnie Wood, 67, Keith Richards, 70, and Charlie Watts, 73, are preparing to rock crowds of more than 50,000 at Adelaide's Oval on Saturday, the opening date of their rescheduled tour.

In March the rock gods postponed their highly anticipated Australian dates, after learning the news of the tragic death of Jagger's girlfriend, designer L'Wren Scott, who took her own life in her New York apartment.

Now, after touching down last week, the musical demi-gods have been steadfastly rehearsing at a studio determined to put on an electric show - their largest ever.

A first glimpse of the quartet's grandstand reveals an imposing black stage, reported by Sydney Morning Herald to feature Australia's biggest video wall ever.

Rolling Stones production manager Dale Skjerseth said the Adelaide platform was the largest he had ever put up, and the largest the Stones had played on, according to Yahoo!News

'You're going to see a really, really good rock show with everything you want to see with it,' he said.

Employing more than 200 crew to erect a Stones-worthy stadium, the stage is said to take a week to set up and pack down - featuring equipment from destinations as far flung as Belgium and Pennsylvania.

With Australian talent Cold Chisel star Jimmy Barnes opening for the boys it's set to be a night to remember and the Stones' only outdoor date Down Under.

While Ronnie and Keith have been spotted out an about dining and enjoying the local sites since landing last Wednesday, Jagger has remained largely under the radar.

He has hardly emerged from his hotel room at the Intercontinental, save to rehearse with the band daily.

Hotel staff say he has been holed up in his penthouse suite watching movies including Australian classic The Castle, and ordering cold drinks to his room.
