England vs Wales (6pm)

England: TBA

Wales: TBA

Follow Sportsmail's coverage of the Under 21 European Championship as England host Wales in their group stage qualifier.

The Three Lions have blitzed through the qualification campaign so far and will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the group to six points when they host Wales at Derby County's iPro Stadium.

Having conceded only one goal in their six matches so far, England start as favourites but Wales go into the clash knowing victory would give them a much needed lifeline in their bid to claim top spot in the group.

FULL-TIME: England Under 21 1-0 Wales Under 21

It was comfortable, if not spectacular.

Nathan Redmond shone bright from the left and Tom Ince had a decent game on the opposite wing. They've shown in the group already they can score plenty of goals so this won't worry Gareth Southagate.

19:50

91 min: A late free-kick for England as Redmond and Freeman tussle again with the former coming out on top.

Instead of putting it into the box they try and stay in possession.

19:48

89 min: A speedy counter from England nearly sets Ince away but Wales' Isgrove gets back in time to nudge it away.

Then Hughes works it well and gives it to Ings but Roberts gets down to save it comfortably.

19:45

86 min: If Wales want an opening before the end of the game they're going to have to get through a brick wall of white.

They have a long range effort from Lawrence which is deflected wide. It's closer than the crowd think, too.

Victory: England fans wait for the final whistle to be blown in Derby
19:41

82 min: England definitely aren't playing down the clock here. Butland finally gets a touch of the ball in the second half, although it's still not with his hands. Ince shows some fancy footwork but can't produce anything effective.

19:36

77 min: Superb play again from Redmond who is looking like some talent. He jinks past three players on the left and finds Ings in the box but the substitute is crowded out.

Moments later the Norwich winger sets up Carroll in the middle and his shot is deflected wide.

Robinson tries a shot from about 45 yards out. Not a chance I'm afraid.

19:31
SUBS: Hughes is on for Morrison and Moore for Chalobah

A very quiet, underwhelming Ravel Morrison is taken off and home favourite Will Hughes is the man to come on.

Chalobah, a late addition to the starting line-up, appears to have picked up an injury and he will be replaced by Leicester's Liam Moore.

19:30
Close!

71 min: Redmond cuts inside again, puts the ball into the box and Ince lifts it towards goal but just over the bar. Almost a second.

Man of the match: Redmond has been England's best player all evening
19:28

Much better from England in this half and their perseverance has paid off.

Nathan Redmond, fittingly, has been the brightest player on show in white but this game has shown why Roy Hodgson won’t be considering any of these players – even the gifted Ravel Morrison – for a trip to Brazil.

None of them are ready to take on such demands. This is a very young England side that has a lot of maturing to do.

19:25
SUBS: Ings for Berahino and Evans for O'Sullivan

After that chance Berahino makes way for Burnley's prolific striker Danny Ings. Wales also make a change with O'Sullivan replaced by Evans.

19:25
Close!

66 min: Ince beats the offside traps and corsses for Berahino who has a virtually free header. He nods it over though, and it's his last action of the day...

19:24

65 min: A glimmer of hope for Wales as O'Sullivan wins a free-kick off Ward-Prowse right on the corner of the box. The cross is good but easily headed out by England.

Hustle nad bustle: England and Wales players in the box for a corner
19:20

61 min: England have settled down now, keeping the ball and not playing at quite the same intensity. They still look dangerous down the left with Robinson cruising forward as much as possible.

19:15
GOAL! England Under 21 (Redmond) 1-0 Wales Under 21

56 min: Nathan Redmond has been the best player on the pitch today and he shows it again. He cuts inside, beating Freeman, and fires it low past Roberts at the front post.

Expect more; maybe many more.

Opener: Nathan Redmond cuts inside and scores with low right-footed shot
Touch of class: Nathan Redmond celebrates after putting England ahead at the Ipro Stadium
19:14

56 min: Lawrence is hacked down by Chalobah and Wales have an opening 25 yards out. Lawrence gets up to take it but it's poor and hits the ball. He does pick up the loose ball and tricks his way into the box but England manage to clear.

19:13
Close!

54 min: A torrent of pressure from England and even when Wales clear it comes straight back at them.

Redmond picks it up outside the area and tries a big curler which only just drops wide. Very, very close.

19:11

52 min: Ince has his turn for a shot outside the box but he blasts it over. When one goes in (and it really should soon) several will follow.

Cutting in from the wing: Nathan Redmond fires in a shot to try and break the deadlock
19:10

51 min: England work it down the left and Robinson's cross is turned behind for a corner. Ince swings it in and for a couple of moments Wales look vulnerbale.

Redmond and Berahino both have shots as the ball bounces around but enough defenders get in the way to block and we're still goalless.

19:07

48 min: Lawrence runs clear and curls a right footed shot well wide of Butland's goal. The England keeper hasn't really had anything to do so far tonight.

Poor finishing: Tom Ince shows his disappointment after England fail to score again
19:05
Close!

46 min: Almost an instant goal. Berahino skips past his man and cross low about two yards off the goal line. Walsh sticks out a leg and somehow manages to avoid putting it into his own net and out for a corner.

19:04
Back underway

Wales get us going in the second half. If things stay the same then it won't take long for Gareth Southgate to make some changes.

18:52
Sportsmail's Dominic King at the Ipro Stadium

Not a great deal to report from here so far. England have lacked inspiration and it has to be hoped that Gareth Southgate gives the local crowd a lift by introducing Will Hughes in the second half.

The Derby midfielder’s craft and guile would give England a different dimension. Wales, by contrast, have been tough and resilient. They need a result to keep their hopes of reaching the play-offs alive. Declan John of Cardiff is catching the eye.

Spurned: Tom Ince finds some space to shoot but it goes over the bar
18:49
Half-time: England Under 21 0-0 Wales Under 21

The whistle goes after England have yet another chance for a goal at the end of the half. Jenkinson hits a deep cross and Redmond gets his head to it but it goes over the bar.

18:45

42 min: England's winger starting to turn the screw. Jenkinson gives it to Ince who does a couple of step-overs before firing a shot high over the bar.

The quality in front of the box is good, but the final product isn't quite there yet.

18:40

37 min: It's down the other wing this time. Redmond makes a perfect first touch to come inside his defender and shoots. He slightly scuffs his shot, though, and it trickles wide.

Looking for a chance to shoot: Saido Berahino tries to get away from Scott Tancock
18:39
Close!

35 min: Ince works himself a yard of space down the right and crosses low to Berahino who tries a cheeky backheel. It's blocked, but the imagination was good to see.

More and more pressure from England now. Could be just a matter of time.

18:35

32 min: I wouldn't say England are getting desperate, but they need to come up with some new ideas. Ward-Prowse has a go from far out but it dribbles 10 yards wide.

Morrison and Ince need to get into the game. Redmond has been the most active of England's front four so far.

18:33
Close!

30 min: Wales should be ahead!

A long clearance turns into a foot race and Burns out paces England centre-back Stones into the box. He lets fly and it only just goes wide of Butland's left post. I'd call it a whisker.

Just wide: Wes Burns nearly puts Wales ahead after breaking free into the England half
18:31

28 min: A free-kick is given against Berahino as he tries to wrestle a yard for a header.

At the moment Wales are playing the defensive game perfectly, sniffing out any chance England have of finding space.

Attacking: Jack Robinson gets forward for England watched by Wales' Lloyd Isgrove
18:29

25 min: At last we have our first real shot in anger. Ward-Prowse takes the ball of some dawdling Welshman in their own half and feeds Morrison who shoots from around 25 yards out. It flies wide, but at least it's a shot!

18:24

21 min: Carroll manages to pick out Robinson running down the left and his cross is blocked, meaning we have the first corner of the match.

We know Ward-Prowse is a master at set pieces and he produces another peach which is scrambled behind again by the Welsh defence. However, this time it goes out of play before curling back in.

18:21

18 min: Wales then get down the other end of the pitch. O'Sullivan picks out Burns who moves to the edge of box. The only thing that lets him down is the cross as it sails over the bar.

Through the middle: Wales' Lee Lucas makes a break watched by England's James Ward-Prowse
18:20

16 min: A bit of spark at last. Redmond charges down Wales left back Freeman and manages to skip away from a challenge and creates a yard of space. He tries to keep it in play but the ball just goes over the goal line before getting his cross away.

18:18

14 min: Wales try to work the ball down the right with Isgrove getting forward but the linesman rules it has gone out of play for a goal kick.

In all honesty it is a very quiet start. Morrison hasn't been able to get on the ball much. Carroll Ward-Prowse will be key to unlocking the Wales defence here.

18:15
Sportsmail's Dominic King at the Ipro Stadium

Michael Keane's late absence from the starting line-up has been described by officials as an 'administrative error'.

Keane is registered with UEFA but his playing details had not been uploaded with UEFA for this game, making him ineligible and forcing England to make a change.

Nathaniel Chalobah has taken Keane’s place in defence with Jamaal Lascelles moving on to the bench.

Battle: Nathan Redmond challenges with Kieron Freeman as the ball goes up England's left
18:14

10 min: The team Gareth Southgate is building here looks to be based around getting the ball wide, beating the offside trap and scoring on the break.

Games against sides who get all 11 men behind the ball will be very tricky to break down like this.

18:10

6 min: England are holding an extremely high line here and are nearly caught out as Wes Burns breaks down the left but Arsenal's Carl Jenkinson sprints back to close down the Wales winger.

18:07

3 min: Wales haven't got a touch on the ball yet while England's centre midfielders have already had around 20 each. This could well be the pattern for most of the game, with England lightning on the counter.

18:02
We're underway

With God Save the Queen done and dusted and a minute's applause for both Sir Tom Finney and Bert Williams, we're off here in Derby!

17:56
Five minutes until kick-off!

The teams are in the tunnel and we're close to kick-off.

Expect plenty of goals for England tonight. The last time this side came together they smashed nine past San Marino with Raheem Sterling scoring twice.

He's now in the senior squad, and I'm sure several in this line-up will be eyeing a place in Roy Hodgson's World Cup squad as well.

17:51
Late change for England

Nathaniel Chalobah has come in at the last minute of Manchester United's Michael Keane who can't play because of an administrative error.

He should slot in comfortably at centre-back.

Experience: Nathaniel Chalobah has come into the side in the place of Michael Keane
17:49
Can we expect anything from Wales?

The visitor's squad is full of unknown names and only a smattering of them play for clubs in the Premier League.

Swansea's Scott Tancock, Southampton's Lloyd Isgrove, Cardiff's Declan John and Fulham's Josh Pritchard are all in the starting XI tonight.

17:42
Remember this moment?

Neither Wilfried Zaha or Ravel Morrison will look back on their on-pitch altercation with any pride, I'm sure.

The pair came to blows in England's 5-0 win over Lithuania earlier in the campaign.

Zaha starts on the bench tonight, with Morrison chosen ahead of him.

Fight: The moment when Ravel Morrison (right) and Wilfried Zaha (left) come to blows
17:38
How does Group A look?

As you would expect with the wealth of talent available, England are in pole position to qualify top of their group.

They have won five and drawn one so far, topping the table on 16 points with Moldova (yes, Moldova!) second just three points behind.

As for Wales, they're in third, three points behind Moldova with games running out to be in a top two position.

All the top teams in the ten groups qualify for the play-offs with the top four second played sides joining them.

Then the winners of the play-offs join hosts Czech Republic in the tournament.

17:34
Teams are in!

England: Butland, Jenkinson, Robinson, Carroll, Stones, Keane, Ince, Ward-Prowse, Berahino, Ravel, Redmond

Subs: Moore, Bond, Chalobah, Hughes, Lingard, Zaha, Ings

Wales: Roberts, Freeman, John, Lucas, Tancock, Walsh, Lawrence, Pritchard, Burns, O'Sullivan, Isgrove

Subs: Dibble, Fox, Evans, Hewitt, Williams, Edwards, Ogleby

Prolific: West Brom's Saido Berahino will lead the line for England Under 21s against Wales
17:30
England Under 21 v Wales Under 21

Roy Hodgson's squad may play Denmark later in a friendly at Wembley, but if you're looking for competitive action, this is the place to be.

England Under 21s face Wales in a European Championship qualifying game; a prelude to the Six Nations clash this weekend.

The likes of Tom Ince, Ravel Morrison, Saido Berahino and Jame Ward-Prowse are all in the starting line-up for Gareth Southgate's side.
