Green-haired Lena Dunham displays a noticeably slimmer face as she arrives in London to promote her new book

She's known for rebelling against the pressures of the perfect Hollywood body, and once said she wouldn't want a body like a Victoria's Secret model.

But Lena Dunham seemed to be sporting a somewhat slimmer face as she stepped out in London on Wednesday afternoon to sign copies of her new book, Not That Kind of Girl.

The 28-year-old creator and star of Girls looked noticeably slimmer in the face and arms compared to little over a month ago, when she appeared on the television chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Displaying sharper cheekbones as she signed copies of her books for fans at Waterstones Piccadilly, the talented writer looked happy and relaxed as she went about her day.

Wrapping up in a cosy-looking leopard print fur coat, Lena opted for a typically fun take on fashion in a black and gold printed silk shift dress.

The actress teamed the flattering A-line frock with a pair of bronze loafers, and was sporting the same green locks she dyed a fortnight ago.

Last month, Lena discussed her weight battle over the years telling People.com how she battled severe anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder because of unhappiness about her body as a child.

Her new book even has a whole chapter detailing the stringent food journal she kept in an attempt to lose weight when her acting career took off.

She explained: 'When I got out of college I thought, "What am I gonna do? No one's gonna hire me, I'm a fat girl."

'My food intake was a hard thing to share publicly. A lot of my life and work is sort of about not succumbing to [those pressures], so it's a little painful to go, "Oh but look, there was a time where this dominated every moment of every day".'

Lena ended up in hospital at one point with 'crazy stomach pains' because of her restricted food intake, and consumption of laxative tea and coffee.

But the star says she now feels 'special' and credits her 'incredibly supportive boyfriend' Jack Antonoff, with helping her.

She also puts her changing body shaped down to 'getting busy and realising that food was fuel'.

'I really feel good with my size now,' Lena added.

'I know when I say that people are like, "Mm hmm", but I just do! It used to be when I went into a room with all thin women I felt like, what's wrong with me? Now I just feel special.'
