She's got a reputation for penning telling break up songs about famous exes, including Harry Styles, John Mayer and Jake Gyllenhaal

But Taylor Swift may have to find inspiration elsewhere as she now says boys are off the agenda because the women in her life have taken top priority.

Speaking on Thursday morning's The Talk in the US, the 24-year-old said it had been important to spend time on her own and has since grown closer to her girlfriends following her most infamous split with One Direction's Styles.

The I Knew You Were Trouble singer - who's friends with Victoria's Secret angel Karlie Kloss - name dropped throughout her afternoon interview with hosts Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood, Sara Gilbert, Aisha Tyler and Julie Chen.

Mentioning Ed Sheeran, Lena Dunham and Lorde in conversation with the female panel, Taylor explained how friends had replaced the relationships in her life.

She said: 'I think there's just a bigger priority on the women in my life now, they have taken the place of any absolutely other relationship that I used to prioritise.'

She continued: 'I think it's so important to spend time on your own and prioritise your girlfriends.'

Taylor has been single since January 2013, when she caused a media storm after splitting with curly-haired Harry and subsequently writing numerous tracks linked to the pop star.

The singer releases her fourth studio album 1989 to follow up Red this month, and even told the panel that her best friend Ed had hand picked the tracks.

And now that she's wisened to the idea of dating and shaming strings of high profile celebrities, Taylor also said this month that it would take someone pretty special to make the cut, next time.

In this month's Cosmopolitan, the star said: 'It'd take someone really special for me to undergo the circumstances I have to go through to experience a date.'

She revealed that Girls writer Lena Dunham had selected one of the tracks to be her wedding song for impending nuptials to Jack Antonoff.

The Fun frontman collaborated with the singer on a track called You Are In Love, as he sent her the instrumental and she wrote and sung over the top.

'I ended up channelling the way that Lena had described falling in love with Jack and their story and what it's like to find actual, real, true love.'
