They're back! The Other Guys stars Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell are reuniting for Daddy's Home

Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg created comedy gold in their first collaboration, The Other Guys, in 2010.

The two actors are teaming up again for a new comedy, Daddy's Home, according to Hollywood Reporter

In this new film, which does not yet have a release date, 47-year-old Ferrell will play a reliable and mild-mannered radio executive who has recently become the stepfather to two children.

His efforts to be the best stepfather ever are hampered by the arrival of the kids' real dad, played by Wahlberg, 43.

Mark's character is a wild guy with a tendency to freeload.

Paramount Pictures and Red Granite Pictures will co-produce and finance the film, written by Brian Burns (with revisions from Sean Anders, John Morris, Chris Henchy, Adam McKay and Etan Cohen).

Anders, meanwhile, will direct the film.

The characters from Daddy's Home are somewhat reminiscent of the cop characters played by Wahlberg and Ferrell in their previous collaboration.

In The Other Guys, Ferrell played Detective Allen Gamble, a conservative and risk-averse forensic accountant.

Fatherhood: Instead of the police officers of The Other Guys, Daddy's Home will feature Ferrell as a meek stepfather to two kids - whose real dad, played by Wahlberg, runs wild

Wahlberg's Detective Terry Hoitz was the opposite type, a quick-tempered man of action who once shot Derek Jeter during the World Series.

Considering that Wahlberg and Ferrell are two of Hollywood's busiest actors and producers, a new collaboration between them is an impressive feat.

Ferrell appeared in the miniseries The Spoils Of Babylon in 2014 and lent his voice to multiple characters in The Lego Movie.

In addition to Daddy's Home, the actor has two movies, Get Hard and Zoolander 2, expected in 2015.

As for Wahlberg, he has starred in a host of action movies over the past year - Transformers: Age of Extinction, Lone Survivor, and Pain & Gain among them.

That genre might switch to comedy for much of 2015, with Ted 2 expected that year.
