The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species is a critical indicator of the health of the world’s biodiversity – that is, the variety of life on earth. The IUCN Red List tells us what we need to know to save our wild species. It is an invaluable conservation resource - a Barometer of Life.

So far more than 74,000 species have been assessed. Our target is to assess 160,000* species by 2020 to enable better conservation and policy decisions. Your contribution will help us reach that goal.
