Those who travel very slowly may yet make far greater progress, provided they keep always to the straight road, than those who, while they run, forsake it. Rene Descartes, Discourse on the Method
SOCRATES: Eh! What can be feared when one is doing one’s duty? I know the rage of my enemies. I know all their slanders; but when one only tries to do good to men and when one does not offend heaven, one can fear nothing, neither during life, nor after death. Voltaire, Socrates, ACT II
The voice asleep, the voice has vanished
from the top of the sky to the place below
touch the surface and the mirror bends
your words resound, out of control
freeze into time now
Still inside, yet doubt survives
it all begins, beneath the skin
No-one is near, no-one will hear
your changeling song take shape
in Shadowtime
Turn your wish to a vapour, the silhouette fades
eclipse your blue eyes, and the outline remains
from the house of the moon to the stars up above
amidst the comets, first sight of love
so begins the countdown
Falling sky, a solar sigh
it all begins, beneath the skin
No-one is near, no-one will hear
your changeling song takes shape
in Shadowtime
Shadowtime
Catching fire, taking hold
all that glisters leaves you cold
No-one is near, no-one will head
your changeling song take shape
in Shadowtime

A certain self-absorption, not personal, but human, has marked almost all attempts to conceive the universe as a whole. Mind, or some aspect of it—thought or will or sentience—has been regarded as the pattern after which the universe is to be conceived, for no better reason, at bottom, than that such a universe would not seem strange, and would give us the cosy feeling that every place is like home. To conceive the universe as essentially progressive or essentially deteriorating, for example, is to give to our hopes and fears a cosmic importance which may, of course, be justified, but which we have as yet no reason to suppose justified. Until we have learnt to think of it in ethically neutral terms, we have not arrived at a scientific attitude in philosophy; and until we have arrived at such an attitude, it is hardly to be hoped that philosophy will achieve any solid results. Bertrand Russell, Mysticism and Logic (and other Essays), The Place of Science in a Liberal Education – Part II
Ombrellaio, ombrellaio santo cielo verrà , verrà,
sono qui che aggiusto il manico,
sono qui che pianto il manico
ombrellaio, ombrellaio santo cielo verrà , verrà ,
sono qui che aggiusto il manico
ma non so come si fa.
L’ombrellaio, ombrellaio è arrivato eccomi qua
se ci sono problemi di manico,
se c’è da piantare il manico,
ombrellaio, ombrellaio è arrivato eccolo qua
se ci sono problemi di manico lui li risolverà.
Senta ombrellaio, guardi ombrellaio,
cambio stecche, pianto i manici
Ombrellaio, ombrellaio, ombrellaio, ombrellaio
me sont innamorà
ombrellaio, ombrellaio, me sont innamorà
che cosa fa, che cosa fa, ombrellaio,
lasci un po’ stà
non mi tocchi, non mi tocchi
ombrellaio, ombrellaio
ombrellaio, ombrellaio

“Is there anybody out there who is lost and hurt and lonely too
Are they bleeding all your colours into one
And if you come undone as if you’d been run through
Some catapult that fired you
You wonder if your chance will ever come
Or if you’re stuck in square one.” Coldplay, Square One, X&Y
