KOCHI: First woman mayor of Kochi Mercy Williams died on Wednesday. She had been under treatment for cancer and the end came by evening.

She was the mayor of Kochi during 2005-10. She was the LDF representative of Kochi Municipal Corporation and defeated UDF’s Winnie Abraham by winning 47 votes against 23 votes garnered by her opponent. Mercy was a candidate from Kunnumpuram ward.
