She's as much a performing artist as a singer.

So when FKA twigs takes to the stage she makes sure her wardrobe aesthetic creates a visual treat when she moved to the sound of her own beat.

On Wednesday night in Austin, Texas, she proved that once more by wearing a silk-crepe maxi skirt that flowed elegantly as she performed songs from her debut album LP1.

There seemed to be an Eastern influence to her skirt with it's tied waist and deep slits to allow for enhanced movement, and she matched it to the loose beige blouse worn open over a black bodysuit.

On her feet, the 26-year old singer - real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett - wore patent black ankle strap heels and round her neck was a clear plastic choker with a large ring attached.

FKA twigs was performing at Elmo's in 'the live music capital of the world', one of the many stops on her American tour.

Though she's not selling out stadiums just yet, the singer's small shows have been filled following the release of her debut album which was nominated this year for the Mercury Prize for best British album.

As much as her music recommends her as an artist, it would be wrong to suggest her increasing popularity was not influenced by her relationship with Robert Pattinson.

The British singer and Twilight star have been dating since the summer after being introduced by Tom Sturridge and fiancée Sienna Miller.

It's Rob's first serious relationship since Kirsten Stewart, and clearly he has good taste, because twigs has proven to be a beautiful singer, dancer and director who is known for creating visually compelling music videos.

Her latest offering is for Video Girl,a black-and-white feature that sees twigs dancing while a prisoner is executed by lethal injection.

The singer passed the directing reins over to Khalil Joseph, for the video which takes a turn into the darkness as she mounts the dead inmate in order to reach a microphone.

She'll perform in the UK next February with two shows at The Roundhouse.
