Shia LaBeouf dressed for combat in military fatigues on Thursday while filming his latest movie Man Down in New Orleans.

The 28-year-old embattled actor was spotted for the first time since claiming last week he was raped by a woman during his February performance at an art installation.

Shia wore tan desert camouflage gear on the set and had his hair buzzed for the role.

The actor had a heavy backpack strapped on that he later ditched to grab lunch.

Shia looked fit and trim in a green T-shirt while loading up a plate with food.

The actor in an interview with Dazed digital magazine said he was sexually assaulted on Valentine's Day during his exhibit at a Los Angeles art gallery.

The Transformers star during his #IAMSORRY performance art installation invited the public to visit him wearing a paper bag over his face that read: 'I AM NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE'.

The Fury star claimed during the recent interview that a woman whipped his legs for 10 minutes with one of the provided whips 'and then striped my clothing and proceeded to rape me.'

The performance art installation was the culmination of several bizarre incidents and acts of public martyrdom after he was caught plagiarising a graphic novel by Daniel Clowes for a short film.

Lunch time: Shia grabbed lunch and checked a bottle's label as he gathered his meal

The former Disney Channel star was arrested in June in New York City after an odd disturbance during the Broadway show Cabaret.

The actor smoked cigarettes in the theater, yelled at the actors, swore at security guards and hollered as he was escorted out.

Shia pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in September and appeared before a judge last month to show proof of substance abuse treatment.

His new movie Man Down is set in a brutal post-apocalyptic America and focuses on former US Marine Gabriel Drummer, played by Shia, as he searches for his son and wife, played by Kate Mara.

The film was being directed by Dito Montiel who also directed Shia in the 2006 movie A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints.

Man Down is due for release on October 30.
