'I need to get down, dirty and a bit aggressive:' Orlando Bloom says he's ready to ditch softer movie roles like The Hobbit and Lord Of The Rings

Orlando Bloom admits he's over his softer movie roles and is ready to get into a 'down and dirty' character.

The 37-year-old, who has played Legolas in The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings for thirteen years, hinted that things are about to change for the heartthrob on Thursday.

Orlando dragged himself out of bed to join Nick Grimshaw on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show, to talk about the latest installment, The Hobbit: The Battle OF The Five Armies.

After separating from his wife of four years earlier this year, the actor was pictured leaving the Leicester Square premiere on Tuesday night with a mystery brunette.

This summer, he was reportedly involved in a brawl with Justin Bieber over his former wife.

So it's safe to say, Orlando's 'clean streak' as the 'action elf who pouts a bit and coifs his hair a lot,' as he described on the show, was becoming a thing of the past.

Speaking to Nick, Orlando revealed a new, gritty project named Unlocked, which he's currently in the midst of filming alongside Noomi Rapace, Michael Douglas and Toni Collette.

The actor said: 'I thought, this time, let's go for something really gritty. I need to sort of get rid of the blonde wig and the pointy ears for a bit and get a little bit odd really.'

With the final movie in the Hobbit franchise being released this week and a newly single lifestyle, the father-of-one says he's ready for a new chapter in his life.

'It's all going to change now. I look back and I think, I've had this amazing opportunity - Legolas is amazing to dress up as and I've had the best time playing him - but I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

'I feel like I need to get down and dirty and a bit aggressive and show this whole other side to me. Everyone thinks I'm very clean and proper.'

Orlando was married to former Victoria's Secret Angel Miranda until October last year when they decided to enter into an amicable split, for the sake of their son Flynn.

He was later videoed in a heated exchange with Baby pop singer, Justin Bieber in August when he partied in Ibiza with friends.

The actor was said to have become 'very, very angry' when Justin, who didn't have a reservation, approached a table he was sharing with Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio at the Cipriani restaurant on the Spanish island.

At the time, it was alleged by onlookers that Orlando threw the first punch in the altercation which was thought to be concerning Justin's relationship with his ex Miranda.
