'I was obsessed with food': Demi Lovato reveals she nearly went back to rehab after a recurrence of her eating disorder

Demi Lovato has revealed she almost returned to rehab last year.

The Heart Attack hitmaker, spent three-months in treatment for bulimia, a self-harming disorder and drug abuse in late 2010.

But Demi credits her longtime boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama, 34, for helping her to avoid relapsing when he noticed she was displaying signs of an eating disorder again.

Speaking about her recovery, the 22-year-old star said: 'It's been difficult. 

'I almost went back to rehab for my eating disorder last summer.

'I was obsessing over food and terrified of it at the same time. Wilmer noticed and called me out on it, which was a relief.'

Demi is slowly learning to enjoy a balanced diet.

She told Fitness Magazine.: 'Now I'm on a structured meal plan. I eat four small meals and two snacks a day. It's teaching me portion control.'

The former Disney star, who still works out regularly so she can be stronger 'physically and mentally,' insists she feels much more confident about her body these days.

Indeed her new motto is: 'If Beyoncé can do it, I can do it.'

She added: 'If she can work out, have the incredible body she has, have a kid, and be as successful as she is, then I sure as hell can, too.'

Demi also looks up to Kim Kardashian West and other celebrities that are known for their curves.

She said: 'Say what you will about the Kardashians, but they've really helped make curvy bodies beautiful again. 

'It's so nice to look around and see women with hips and a butt, like Iggy Azalea and Jennifer Lopez. 

'They have great figures, but you know they also work really hard for them and don't try to hide their curviness.'

The trying task of staying healthy has indeed paid off, as seen during her latest 99.7-sponsored show on Wednesday - a spin off her Neon Lights Tour.

'I recently saw pictures from my first tour, and I spent that whole summer performing in the heat in a red leather jacket because I was ashamed to show my arms. And that was when I was 105 pounds! 

'This tour, I've had the confidence to show my arms at every single concert. It may seem like a small thing, but for me, that's huge.'

Her arms weren't showcased, but Demi didn't hide her body either.

Instead, Lovato accentuated her curves in a graphic studded jacket and black leather leggings, teamed with a hip-hugging layered belt.

Raven locks flew in the air as her partially shaved head was unveiled to the crowd during the jam session with her band.
