EXCLUSIVE: Edwina Currie slams 'childish' Kendra and talks flirting with Jake as she catches up with lookalike daughter Debbie following I'm A Celebrity eviction

She was eliminated from the I'm A Celebrity jungle during Saturday's semi-final but feisty Edwina Currie still has plenty to say about her former campmates.

Speaking to MailOnline as she caught up with her daughter Debbie on her first day of freedom at the Palazzo Versace resort, Edwina, 68, wasted no time in laying in to Kendra Wilkinson.

She said: 'Most of the time, Kendra lives in a bubble and the only thing that exists in that bubble is Kendra. I've never met anyone like her before. Except for perhaps children of four and six years old.'

Edwina and the blonde ex-girlfriend of Hugh Hefner famously had a bust-up in the jungle, with Kendra lashing out at Edwina in an ugly tirade.

And Edwina revealed she wasn't too impressed with Kendra outside of the camp either.

When asked, 'How did Kendra react to you when you saw her in the outside world again?', Edwina said: 'I didn't recognise Kendra when I saw her. I truly didn't recognise her. The Kendra I saw in the jungle was gorgeous. She was a natural beauty. The Kendra I saw outside didn't look like that.'

Meanwhile, Edwina had much kinder words for X Factor reject Jake Quickenden, 26, who she enjoyed a flirtation with in the jungle.

'Jake is amazing,' she gushed. 'He is every mother's son. Every grandmother's grandson. He had a very low boredom threshold. He would've done anything in the camp. He would've done the fire, the dunny, everything.

When asked, what she would have done if Jake came on to her properly, John Major's former mistress replied: 'Have you seen how tall he is? I probably would've run a mile.'

She added: 'Jake's flirting was always very safe. We warned him about that. The people who were experienced in showbiz terms, like Vicki [Vicki Michele], Carl [Carl Foggarty], and myself – and Tinch [Tinchy Stryder], who although he's the same age as Jake, he's been in showbiz successfully for a lot longer; we all warned him.

'We warned him that when he gets out, he'll be overwhelmed with invitations. There are going to be girls hanging off the garden gate and he's going to find it very easy to pull birds. And he will be a target for newspapers. We told him to be careful.

'One of the things that Jake is going to have to learn is how to say no. He's an extraordinarily mature young man. The experience of losing his brother and his father has given him a real grounding of what real values are. I never felt at any risk at any time. He's a gentleman. He's a giant gent. He's a gorgeous young gent.'

Edwina also clashed with Melanie Sykes after the 44-year-old presenter insisted she doesn't need a man and Edwina still believes Melanie is wrong.

She said: 'Mel is immensely hard working. I think she pushes herself far too hard and she should've been able to relax a bit more.

'Mel said you don't need a man for anything. You only need them for sex. Well, that's wrong because men are people. We all need people. When I was a kid, the sisterhood wanted me to stay at home and have kids. Nobody is self-sufficient. Whole people need other whole people.'

However, she admitted: 'It could well be a generational thing. Beautiful women in their 40s are saying they don't need a man, so you buy a piece of equipment instead? I don't believe in that. I think Mel needs to chill out a bit. If she's like that in the jungle, imagine what she's like at home?'

Many of the contestants lost a lot of weight in the jungle, including Edwina.

She said: 'I lost over a stone, which is lovely. I'm going to keep it off. I had a chicken burger for lunch, but I didn't eat it all.

'You could visibly see everyone shrinking, which is shocking for some of the men. Mel was quite skeletal. You can hang washing on her cheek bones.'

While Edwina had her share of arguments, she admitted she was shocked she wasn't involved in more.

Edwina said: 'I had far fewer arguments than I was expecting. In a way, it was such a tragedy that Craig Charles had to go home [after his brother died suddenly].

'Before I got to the jungle, my expectations were that Craig would be in there with me. With him being a mouthy Scouser on the left of the spectrum and me being a another mouthy Scouser on the right of the spectrum, I thought Michael Buerk would be a convener or a chairman of some feisty debates – but it didn't happen. I hope Craig and his family are OK. What an awful tragedy. So I had fewer rows in the camp that I expected because we all got on terribly well – and that's a tribute to all of them, not to me.'

And she admitted she was shocked by how long she lasted, saying: 'I lasted far longer than I thought I would. I was convinced I'd be the first out. Remember in Strictly, I was the first out? I was gutted about that. This time, I thought, "You know what? With this crowd, I will be the first out but it will be fine." But here I am. I survived.'
