'It was him himself that said he couldn't continue': AC/DC's Angus Young opens up about brother Malcolm's bout with dementia and not seeing Phil Rudd since his arrest

He co-founded AC/DC alongside his brother Malcolm, who has been sidelined due to a serious case of dementia.

And Angus Young has described the devastation of possibly never being able to play on the stage with Malcolm again.

Speaking to Who Magazine, the iconic Aussie rocker said he wasn't sure if his sibling will ever recover.

'At this point I don't think so. Because it's just a regression,' he said.

Angus, 59, explained that a telling sign is that 'it was him himself that said he couldn't continue doing it.'

In April a message was released on AC/DC's website, revealing 61-year-old Malcolm was 'taking a break from the band due to ill health.'

Following an announcement of his retirement from the band in September, his family told People Magazine that Malcolm was suffering from dementia.

Malcolm was replaced by he and Angus's nephew Stevie Young, who recorded their new album Rock Or Bust and will tour with the band.

Controversy has also recently befallen drummer Phil Rudd, who was arrested on charges of drug possession, threatening to kill and attempting to procure a murder (however the charge of attempting to procure a murder was quickly dropped).

'It was quite a shock,' Angus said of his bandmate's arrest. 'We didn't see that coming...and I haven't seen him since.'

Rock Or Bust, the first album recorded without Malcolm, was released in November and topped the charts in nearly 10 countries, including Australia, Finland, Belgium and Switzerland.
