Winter style all wrapped up! Jessica Alba bundles up in fur-collar coat and slouchy beanie hat for off-duty shop in the city

Her effortless everyday looks act as unlimited fashion inspiration for anyone keen on style.

But now that Jessica Alba's winter wardrobe has come about, the star is really coming into her own.

Jessica, 33, made layering look like light work on Thursday when she was spotted in midtown New York wearing a chic fur collar over a dowdy drawstring jacket.

The mother-of-two worked youthful touches with bright white hi-top trainers and a slouchy beanie hat that she wore high on her head over her bright blonde locks.

Jessica looked chilly as she tried to muster a smile while keeping her hands firmly in her pockets as she made her way around the city.

After her business The Honest Company found its footing and catapulted to success in the last year, finding the time to wonder around the city in just jeans and trainers has been a rarity for the health entrepreneur.

Jessica recently said that fame didn't bother her any more but that becoming a mother made her who she is today.

She explained: 'Living in LA, everyone likes to mould you and change you. I don't care about fame, I don't care about being a celebrity.

'I know that's part of the job but I don't feed into anyone's ideas of who I should be.'

She added to Australia's OK! Magazine: 'When I became a mum, I finally became the person I am, that I always should have been.'

The Sin City: A Dame to Kill For star is even trying to steer her daughters Honor, six, and Haven, three - with whom she has with her husband of six years, Cash Warren - away from the acting industry but is convinced they'll both go on to have wonderful careers.

She explained: 'Every day [Honor and Haven are] just getting taller and sometimes more sassy. I don't think either of them are going to be actresses, if I can help it.

'Maybe Haven will be a filmmaker because she's more creative. I feel like Honor can have more of the business sensibility.'

And Jessica was only just back from filming herself on Tuesday after a stint in Thailand for her latest movie role.

Since arriving back with daughter Honor, six, in tow she has been making the most of her time with her two adorable daughters.

The pair were enjoying a mother-daughter day out in New York City the next day, looking all smiles as she did a bit of shopping with her first born.

In awe, the 33-year-old actress was seen gazing at her little girl as they laughed and joked, though her littlest Haven, three, was absent.

In an effort not to get blindsided by the weather in the capital, Jessica wore a large tweed coat with a pair of dark jeans and patent boots.

Alba also rocked an deep green beanie with black gloves as she accessorised with a stylish leather side bag.

Keeping her wrapped up warm, Jessica completed Honor's outfit with multi-coloured mittens, and a cream snood and hat.

Meanwhile the Sin City star dressed her pint-sized doppelganger in a navy coat, pale pink dress, patterned tights and brown boots.

The pair appeared to be socking up again after their recent trip away with Honor carrying a fashion bag and Alba carrying a bundle of shopping carriers.

Ahead of their arrival in the Big Apple, Jessica took to Instagram to share a picture of herself and her mini-me.

Seated in an aircraft, the selfie sees Honor beaming as she wears a pair of headphones on her head and clutching a tablet while Alba leans in to ensure she's also in the shot.

The caption on the image read: 'And we're off! w Honorcita - best little roll dog ever! #momlife'.
