Broken cellphone, DNA led to arrest in Fairmount Park attack

A broken cellphone found in Fairmount Park last month after a 36-year-old woman was raped, beaten and burned – as well as DNA evidence gathered in a 2010 sexual assault case – led police to a suspect in the case, Cornell A. McNeal, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in McNeal’s capital murder case.

Memories Park to open Saturday at Sedgwick County Park

Memories Park – a gift from Together Wichita 2014 – will have its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. It is on the west side of Sedgwick County Park, 6501 W. 21st St. There will be photographers at the opening to help with family portraits.
