Flaw by floor: Lada 4x4 falls down giant pothole after road collapses when driver comes to a halt in Ukraine
Gordey Efremov was travelling home in the city of Dnipropetrovsk in south-eastern Ukraine, when the road suddenly collapsed beneath him. Images from the accident show Mr Efremov's 4x4 lying on its side in a giant pothole, practically swallowed by the road, but the lucky driver managed to climb out of his vehicle without a scratch.

The Elio (pictured) goes from 0-60 mph in 9.6 seconds and does 84 miles per gallon. Phoenix-based Elio Motors plans to start making the vehicles for the US market next autumn. More than 27,000 people have reserved one, and Elio hopes to make 250,000 cars a year by 2016. Because it has three wheels, the Elio is classified as a motorcycle by the US government. With temperatures in the Gulf still baking hot, wealthy Arabs are seeing out the end of the summer in London's rather milder climes... and they've brought their customised supercars with them. This line-up outside the Dorchester Hotel (bottom left-right) of a gold-plated Range Rover, a Lamborghini, a Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé, a Ferrari, another Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé, yet another gold-plated Range Rover, and a Bugatti Veyron is worth at least £3.1 million alone. It is one of the many glitzy parades of cars lighting up the streets of Knightsbridge, Kensington and Mayfair alongside (top left-right) this gold-plated Ferrari, a red matte Ferrari, a Pagani Huayra, and an eye-watering lime green Lamborghini. But the spectacle has not gone down well with residents, who complain the drivers don't respect parking rules and rev their engines til the small hours.
