She failed to win the Miss World title at the finals event in London on Sunday, with Miss South Africa Rolene Strauss claiming ultimate victory.

But Miss World Australia Courtney Thorpe still has a reason to celebrate.

The 24-year-old from Brisbane, who finished in the top five in the global pageant, managed to take home the sash for Miss World Oceania 2014.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, the brunette beauty shared a photo of herself at the pageant.

'Top 5 at Miss World 2014..... Could not be happier!!!!!!!!! The crown really couldn't have gone to a more perfect girl. Posing on the runway, Courtney stunned in a beautiful baby pink dress.

Its bodice featured delicate lace detailing which was embellished with glimmering gems and the frock was cinched in at the waist before flowing down to the floor.

Courtney's luscious brown locks were worn out in loose curls, while she sported a slick of glossy pink lipstick to complement her elegant outfit.

Representing Australia in the pageant, the stunner sported the most important accessory of all, the Australia sash.

With one hand on her hip, she posed for the camera open-mouthed, clearly over the moon having attended the prestigious event.

Courtney later shared a close-up snap in which she expressed her thrill at having been crowned Miss Oceania.

A gold and white Oceania sash was layered over her Miss World Australia one, with the pageant princess posing for a cute candid at the Coronation Ball.

During the finals event for Miss World, the mass communications student was asked to justify why she should be crowned Miss World.

'I think I want to be the next Miss World because throughout this journey I've learned more than I ever, ever thought that I would,' she said.

'And, I truly feel like I found my purpose and my place being here. And, I feel that I'm just excited to continue with that and see where it could go. And, I feel like I've so much more to learn and so much more to give as the next Miss World.'
