'We’re gonna keep her!' Kristen Bell gives birth to a second daughter... and Dax Shepard reveals the unusual name

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have welcomed a healthy baby girl.

'Delta Bell Shepard is here,' the proud father announced on Twitter on Friday night.

'She doesn’t look like either Kristen or me, but we’re gonna keep her anyway,' the 39-year-old joked.

Delta is a second child for the couple, joining 21-month-old big sister Lincoln.

Bell, 34, wrote: 'The estrogen has now hit critical mass! Good luck, Dax. And welcome to the world DELTA BELL SHEPARD.'

The Parenthood star had only yesterday joked that she might be going into early labour.

'Crying in the car to @joshgroban christmas songs has got to be an early sign of labor, right?' she wrote.

As a name, Delta is an unusual choice, somewhat popularised by the Australian soap star Delta Goodrem.

Taken from the Greek, it means 'mouth of a river', and is a letter of the Greek alphabet.

While Delta may seem an unusual choice, Kristen and Dax had earlier talked of their delight at finding the 'perfect' nomiker for their second child.

In September the mother-to-be explained: 'We’ve settled on one, thankfully.

'It’s a lot of pressure, especially because we felt Lincoln was so perfect.'

And it seems Delta will have a warm reception from her big sister.

‘She's very interested in the shape of my belly,’ Kristen told Us Weekly. ‘Very interested in offering it water and crackers and giving it smooches.

‘She could just be mimicking what we're doing but I have a hunch she knows what's happening.’
