Here Are A Few Examples To Get You Thinking
Guided Voyageur canoe day trip:Paddle traditional North Canoes (seat 10 people each) from our Oxtongue Lake store on an hour-long journey up the Oxtongue river to the base of Ragged Falls, a 30 metre (90 foot) waterfall, where your group can hike the trails by the falls, enjoy a lunch or snack and then paddle back. This is an excellent team building experience and ideal for novice paddlers. |
Skill development programs:Spend a day building group skills with rotating sessions of kayaking, canoeing, and hiking in the wilderness of Algonquin Park. Having everyone do the same activity at the same time is usually not practical and learning new skills is much easier in a smaller group. This type of program is ideal large groups staying at the Whitefish Group Campground (see more information below). |

Algonquin Park, What You Should Know
Algonquin’s 7630 square kilometres contains over 2000 km of canoe routes, 1200 lakes, three backpacking trail systems, three Nordic ski trail systems, two mountain bike trail systems and 17 day hiking trails, most located along Algonquin’s Hwy 60 corridor. The possibilities for an outstanding wilderness experience for your group are almost limitless.

Algonquin Park interior canoe trips are best suited for small groups. Interior camp sites have a limit of nine people per site. Even though most lakes have numerous sites, to organize a group of 50 people on an interior canoe trip takes careful planning and a willingness to split up into smaller groups, travel independently and even camp on different lakes.
Smaller groups, of less than 24 people, are much easier to organize for interior canoe trips and help reduce the impact on Algonquin Park.

Group Camp Sites
If you want to keep your large group together, the best option is a base camp type canoe trip. This way, the group camps on the same lake each night and can travel on day trips out from the camp site. One of the best spots for a large group base camp is the Whitefish Group Campground. This road-access campground offers 18 sites, which can support groups ranging in size from 10 to 40 people. Organized groups larger than this may use the campground but will have to occupy more than one site. Whitefish Group Campsites should be reserved well in advance and must be guaranteed by a credit card. Reservations can be made by calling the park information line at (705) 633-5572.

Algonquin Park has a rich cultural, scientific and environmental history, plus excellent ongoing programs for visitors. If your group has extra time you can explore this heritage by visiting facilities like the Algonquin Logging Museum, Algonquin Art Centre or Algonquin Visitor Centre.
