Day Trip Info

Algonquin Outfitters understands that not everyone is ready (or simply doesn’t have the time) to go on a multi-day interior canoe trip. If your time in Algonquin Park is limited, Algonquin Outfitters offers a variety of day trips, starting at either our Oxtongue Lake or Opeongo Lake bases. Both self-guided and guided options are available. Day trips offer an opportunity for exploring Algonquin Park while staying at a nearby cottage or resort, making a stop on a driving tour or just to take a short break from city life.

This easy lake and river paddle to the base of scenic Ragged Falls departs right from our Oxtongue Lake dock. The average time required for the round trip is three to four hours. You can extend the trip by packing a lunch and taking some time to explore the hiking trails at the falls. Available May to early October, weather and water conditions permitting. Hailstorm Creek is a protected Nature Reserve area in the north arm of Opeongo Lake. The wide, placid creek winds through a beautiful wetland where wildlife viewing opportunities abound, particularly for moose. This unique package lets canoeists explore Hailstorm Creek without having to paddle on the big lake – a water taxi transports people and canoes safely from our store to the mouth of the creek in 20 minutes and will return to pick you up at a prearranged time. Overnight Trips Offer the Full Experience

The best way to “get into Algonquin” is on a multi-day canoe trip. With almost 8000 square kilometres of wilderness, over 2000 kilometres of canoe routes and hundreds of kilometres of hiking trails, Algonquin Park can’t possibly be fully experienced in just one day. It takes many days, and possibly even a lifetime, to really get to know “The Park.” Algonquin Outfitters offers canoe and gear rentals, complete outfitting packages and custom guided canoe trips.
