Will you get rich this year? JONATHAN CAINER reveals what 2015 has in store for your finances

A dark shadow has been hanging over the world since 2008. Astrologer JONATHAN CAINER explains what these events mean for your finances in 2015

A dark shadow has been hanging over the world since 2008.

Uranus and Pluto didn’t fully form the first of their seven, once-every-60-years-or-so squares till 2012.

But these symbolic celestial bodies move slowly, and their long-term oppressive influence began to kick in about four years earlier when the phrase ‘credit crunch’ was first heard.

Experts now say the darker implications may be nearly over. Astrologers are more cautious. Not until the last in this series of seven right-angles — around March 20 this year — can we be sure we’ve seen the last wave of global tension and trauma.

Even then, there will be an overhang. The way out from an intense alignment is always speedier than the time it took us to start coming under its spell.

The hangover won’t last the rest of the year. But I’d be (pleasantly) surprised if one last big roar of international economic pain didn’t echo over our heads in the next three months.

They used to say that when America sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold. Russia is currently laid up in bed with a nasty fever and a box of tissues. Japan has come out in spots. Are the rest of us entirely immune to their problems? But most nations have coped surprisingly well so far with seven years of economic stress.

If only on the grounds that what doesn’t destroy us only makes us stronger, we can expect a year in which most of the world starts showing indications that, most experts would have to agree, look healthy.

In 2015, nobler ideals may yet prevail, according to astrologer Jonathan Cainer, who gives his predictions for the year ahead

Aries, March 21 - April 20

In almost every financial fantasy there’s a moment where we’re poor. Then, in a sprinkling of magic fairy dust, we become rich.

Oh, how we all love the Lottery. And how we all hate it too, for we inwardly understand how statistically unlikely a big win must be. The most insidious aspect of that dream is the way it makes us want to keep sleeping.

Your journey to satisfactory solvency in 2015 does not involve a golden ticket. But it does involve a cosmic alarm clock — one that wakes you from a wistful slumber and an unimaginative routine.

The cosmos is crying out: ‘Put on your boots and stride out in a different direction.’ You’ve heard that call before. Yet you’ve never really known which way to go. Tentative steps have brought questionable results. So you’ve shrunk back into more familiar, if less lucrative habits.

It’s not that you’ll gain a compass in 2015 that points you unerringly towards the way of the wealth. It’s more that you’ll walk, open-mindedly, towards opportunity wherever and however it presents itself. And you’ll have faith in your entitlement to greater material well-being.

These are the only parts you need to play in the process. The rest — as, month by month, you’ll slowly see — will take care of itself.

Taurus, April 21 - May 21

Isn’t it time to start doing more of what you’re good at? You have precise skills. You have invaluable experience. You have practical abilities that, if applied to newly arising situations, can not only benefit others but significantly increase your income.

Yet so much of your time is already spoken for. Just stop and think about how many hours you spend attending to matters that may seem mundane but are surely essential. What if you were to delegate some of those?

In 2015 there’s nothing wrong in seeing yourself as indispensable. But you’ve got to recognise where and why this is. If, for example, it so happens that someone influential prefers to see you as the only one who can be safely entrusted with a particular task, it may not be yours to reason why. Their judgement matters more than yours, especially if they happen to be in a position to foot a higher bill for your services.

Couldn’t you do more for them, and couldn’t they do more for you in return, if only you didn’t see certain other aspects of your daily activity as too important to pass along the line?

You can end 2015 wealthier as long as you embrace a willingness to revise and review your understanding of how much you’re worth… and to whom.

Gemini, May 22 - June 22

If you really want to succeed, take time in 2015 to dwell on some of the things that may have gone wrong in the past.

How badly wrong did they really go? Have you consigned to the landfill of history a rare, valuable experience that might be far better dug up, cleaned off and profitably recycled? And might there be, attached to this incorrectly categorised ‘mistake’, a degree of shame or embarrassment that even now you can hardly bring yourself to recall?

Even if I tell you that there’s no need to shudder, perhaps you still wish I’d change the subject and save you from further cringeworthy memories. Ha! You do, don’t you! Well then, that’s the very thing I’m talking about. It’s time to see all that happened in a very different light — and revoke the promise you once made to yourself to never remember this time of failure. With just a little twist and tweak, it can become the foundation of a financial triumph in 2015.

Have you not since witnessed, with your very own eyes, fate take many such twists and turns? Have you never wondered how your own destiny might have been so much more munificent had it only taken such a turn for you?

Well then, here’s your chance. And here’s your year.

Cancer, June 23 - July 23

It is high time you understood how important you are, and how you are so highly regarded in the eyes of others.

Because you are so good-natured, cooperative and willing to go the extra mile for others, people don’t always appreciate quite how much — at a material level — your efforts and energies really are worth. Yet because you are seen as priceless, and no price can be put on what you supply, you tend to fear that perhaps it isn’t worth very much at all.

It’s not that this year you need to start charging for your helpfulness by the hour or attaching some crassly calculated financial fee to the many kindnesses that you normally naturally manifest for free — but it is only right and proper that you get some of the recognition you have long deserved. Clearly, the cosmos thinks so too.

This year provides you with a set of glorious opportunities to go beyond the call of duty in ways that others cannot fail to notice — and value.

Expect your experience, your skill set, and the very nature of your temperament to bring deserved rewards. And expect your current worries about making ends meet to meet with the end they always should have met! You’re going to be fine!

Leo, July 24 - August 23

If your economic progress in 2014 meandered, in 2015 it will turn from maze to labyrinth.

Now you’re not trying to find your way around high hedges of uncertainty that seemingly lead in circles. You’re in a dark, winding tunnel where riches untold may well sparkle atop a treasure trove just around the next corner… but there’s an equal possibility of encountering the glistening eyes of a fierce guardian dragon.

Yet there is no retreat you can beat. Forward is the only way.

You crave a source of reliable guidance. Yet everyone who claims to be able to offer this seems to whisper advice tinged with fear. What can you do but trust the clearest flame of hope that burns in your heart? Each time you find yourself in a situation this year that matches this description, remember that your occasional, encouraging, intuitive inklings are not just comforting distractions.

They are the glowing dials and needles of a natural inner compass that will eventually guide you, unerringly, towards the source of greater income and support you need and deserve.

It doesn’t matter, in 2015, what you don’t know. Or what you fear you can’t do. All that matters is what you do know. And what you can do. Trust that and all will be well.

Virgo, August 24 - September 23

You are not in your current position by accident. You haven’t been put where you are because somebody made a mistake or because someone was failing to pay attention.

You are where you are, in the exact situation you are facing, because that is where you are supposed to be.

You are the best person to do a particular job or perform a special role or carry out a specific task. In your own way, you are an expert. And a valuable, even priceless one too.

Where you have expertise is also where you have a wind of grace filling the sails of your financial boat and helping to blow you safely to the shoreline of satisfactory solvency. If you find yourself taking on water or being buffeted by breezes that are seemingly destabilising, that’s because you are paying too much attention to what’s going wrong — and not enough to how to put it right.

That’s why you owe it to yourself and to all who depend on you to think more positively about your finances this year. No axes need fall. No belts need tighten.

If you roll up your sleeves and start working with your opportunities, they’ll expand and increase until they present you with solutions to all the problems you ever need to solve.

Libra, September 24 - October 23

Please read and retain the following. No matter how down in the ditch you imagine your current economic prospects to be, it will lead you out into the sunlit uplands of a new and more rewarding future. It won’t be your expertise or your talent that makes the big difference. Nor the job you are currently doing; the role you are playing. It is something subtler than that — yet altogether more powerful.

It is your discrimination.

There are times when you consider your pickiness to be a bit of a problem. Others might wish you were less fussy. You might wish it yourself. But when you are employing the natural powers of separation and evaluation that the universe caused you to be born blessed with, you are actually following a kind of weather vane that never fails to recognise the true direction of the right kind of wind.

Trust your own judgment this year. Where you feel that something needs to be tweaked a little to bring out the best within it, insist on it!

This is not splitting hairs or picking fine points. This is you following a rather marvellous radar that will take you directly to where the universe needs you to be, financially.

And, trust me, it needs you to be in the strongest possible position.

Scorpio, October 24 - November 22

Where I come from, people used to say: ‘Where’s there’s muck, there’s brass.’ It’s as true today as it ever was. And not just in Yorkshire.

But in fairness to those people who do not work in the cleaning or recycling industries, the phrase can also be widened to mean: ‘Where there’s trouble, there’s opportunity’ or ‘Where there’s a mess, there’s a chance to clear up that mess and profit from clearing it up.’

Now can you see why I have chosen to begin your financial forecast for 2015 with such an expression?

Wherever things appear to be going wrong this year, here is the universe’s invitation to help put them right. So if it seems to you as if things are falling apart or someone is doing something wrong — or a situation has not been looked after in the way it should have been — you should simply look at how to lead forward from this point onwards, towards a more desirable state of affairs.

You’ll be the person to do it — and you’ll do it all the more constructively if you shy away from the temptation to attribute blame or apply criticism.

Just think positive, act positive and say only positive things.

The results will be visible soon enough — in your bank balance!

Sagittarius, November 23 - December 21

Will success this year come as a result of diligence, discipline, prudence, sacrifice and thrift?

As long as you keep count of the small change in your purse, will someone forget to keep putting that minus sign next to the big numbers in your bank balance?

Doing well for yourself in 2015 means thinking on your feet.

It may also require you to be crazy enough to repeat some old mistakes. Not, obviously, if they were mistakes. But if they were really near misses, close calls or photo finishes, it might be wise indeed to consider running some of those races again.

It’s funny how a triumphant victory snatched from your grasp by cruel fate at the eleventh hour can turn — over time, with the telling of tales — into an enterprise that must have been doomed to failure from day one.

Or at least it would be funny if it weren’t so wrong.

You know what needs to be done differently this year. Now trust your own ability to do it differently — and this time, to get it right.

Trust, too, your own ability to be brave, bold, adventurous and even a little daring.

This is not your licence to be daft. But it is a reminder that what some folk see as silly in 2015 may yet be the most sensible option you can pursue!

Capricorn, December 22- January 20

If you want to do well in 2015, you may need to think hard about what it is that you ‘don’t do’.

What are those things that you decided long ago were beyond your own remit or in someone else’s department?

You have drawn demarcation lines and built barriers. Did you do this for the protection of others, because you weren’t very good at certain tasks?

Or did you do it because you detested particular activities and felt determined not to spend too much of your future engaging with them?

You may be feeling a little uncomfortable, even now, just because I’m questioning those limitations. But what I am about to say is still what’s most likely to put you in a position of greater comfort.

You know those things that you don’t think you know how to do or imagine you are not very good at? Well, nobody is actually very good at them. Almost all of us avoid them if we can.

There are some things that we far prefer somebody else to do for us — but life’s highest rewards are often attained by those people who are willing to go beyond their own boundaries.

In a small but significant way, you can profit in 2015 from redefining that list of what you are or aren’t prepared to put up with.

Aquarius, January 21- February 19

The received wisdom, when it comes to coping in the material world, is that we should cut our coat according to our cloth, recognise our limitations and work within them.

Yet you would be doing yourself a significant disservice in 2015 if you were to abandon your dearest dream, forget your highest aspiration and give up on your most golden goal.

It would be an error to assume that settling for anything less was somehow accepting a sensible substitute.

There is something that you have long wanted to be a part of, or get yourself more involved with. You have long been telling yourself, too, that for various reasons the time isn’t right. But no matter what reluctance you may feel, you should understand that this truly is a year of opportunity for you. And earning opportunities, particularly of the kind and size that are presenting themselves in your life now, deserve to be seized. Just as you will surely soon seize yours.

You may have been waiting a long time for a real chance to change your outlook financially but that’s no reason to blink in disbelief when it arises — and then turn away to head for seemingly ‘safer’ territory.

Be ready for a big adventure. Because a big adventure is ready for you.

Pisces, February 20 - March 20

As a Piscean you have adaptability and fluidity. One of your strongest suits is your ability to identify a challenge, find the hidden opportunity within it, exploit this seamlessly and stylishly then produce the rewarding results.

What can explain this talent other than your open-mindedness? Yet there may be times this year when you are better advised to close your mind, to assert yourself and say: ‘No. I know what I’m looking for and shall accept no substitute.’

I’m not suggesting you need to become unreasonable. But every so often there will be moments of big choice — where there’s no shame in saying ‘no’.

If, in 2015, you follow your most sensitive inclinations, you may be surprised how often you become inclined to reject apparent opportunities to tweak and twist an opportunity until it better represents an answer to your most immediate need. The benchmark to apply — time and time again — to each crucial question, will be another question: ‘Is this solution simple and easy?’

If you stick with what feels right, you will automatically attract support from other like-minded, high-minded souls. They will recognise the value of your deeper discrimination, and, as a result, the material rewards that you seek will naturally, eventually make their way towards you.
