Jason Matheny founded New Harvest in 2004. His work with New Harvest was covered by the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Economist, Newsweek, the Los Angeles Times, Scientific American, National Public Radio, NOVA, CBS Evening News, Wired Magazine, Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, Boston Globe, Baltimore Sun, BBC, Financial Times, the Guardian, the Independent, Daily Mail, Der Spiegel, Maclean’s, and more than 100 other media outlets. The New York Times Magazine called New Harvest’s work one of the “Best ideas of the year” and Discover Magazine called it one of the “Top 100 Science Stories of the Year”.

He is currently a Program Manager at IARPA. Previously, Jason worked for Oxford University, the Center for Biosecurity, the Applied Physics Laboratory, the Center for Global Development, the Packard Foundation and the World Bank. Jason holds a PhD in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University, an MPH from Johns Hopkins University, an MBA from Duke University, and a BA from the University of Chicago.
