Core 2k/6k/10K Further Optimized PIC/SOUND/PITCH ACCENT v23
6.79MB. Updated 2013-12-29.
Description
Supplement to this deck is available with extra 15k cards at
https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/1132075078
Audio and Image files:
Image and audio files are provided separately:
for cards 0k-10k:
https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/959273281
for cards 0k-6k:
https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/1692722392
for cards 6k-10k:
https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/169008752.
Downloading one of those decks will create a deck called "delete me" that contains all image/audio files. It's safe to delete that deck as it's just a dummy deck used to store the media.
This deck is based on "core-6000.txt" deck and "core10K (core 2k6k +4k more)".
It constains all cards from "core-6000.txt" and cards from "core10K" that were not included in "core-6000.txt"
In V20 remaining 1325 words from JLPT vocab list were added.
"Core-6000.txt" was extracted from iKnowIt. It is un updated version than the one from
Smart.Fm.
I wrote an algorithm that groups kanjis together based on kanjis frequency (ko2001) and a few heuristics. I made sure that words that contain only kana or kanjis that appear only once are spread evenly through out the deck. If Kanji in a word appears at least twice in a deck then such a word will placed nearby another word that has the same Kanji. See the change log for more information. Original sorting indexes were included, you can use them as well.
Pictures for cards in range 0k-2k were attached to deck core-6000.txt. Pictures for cards in range 2k-10k were downloaded from Bing Image Search.
This deck contains Japanese Pitch accent for 95% of all words. You can see more at:
http://learnlangs.com/japanesepitch/index.php/Main_Page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_pitch_accent
Deck currently contains two types of cards. One for recognition and another one for production.
Short usage guide:
1) I recommend turning off media sync before syncing with Ankiweb, as it may take quite a long time to sync 600+mb.
For windows: Tools -> Preferences -> Network -> Synchronize audio and images -> unmark
For iPhone/iPad: Setings -> Sync -> Download Media -> unmark
For other platforms check the manual.
2) After downloading the database entires appear in random order.
I recommend restoring the order by doing the following procedure:
For Windows:
- Select "core/2k/10k Futher Optimized PIC/SOUND" deck
- Click on the "Browse" button
- Clicn on the "Current Deck"
- Select all entries by pressing Ctrl-A
- Click on Edit->Reposition->OK
That procedure should work as well on Linux and Mac. There is currently no way to do it on mobile devices.
3) There are two types of cards "Production" and "Recognition".
I recommend suspending either of types of cards.
You can list cards by type using command "deck:current card:Producion" or "deck:current card:Recognition", and then suspend ones that you don't plan to use.
Alternatively you can modify card types and remove the type of card, "Production" or "Recognition", that you don't want to use.
4) Description of the main index
The default index Optimized-Voc-Index2k4kDefault is the order in which words grouped in group of 2k and 4k. Then each group was sorted by the difficulty of the most difficuly kanji in it. Then for every word X that appears far away from any other word that contains same kanjis as in the word X, the word X would be moved near another word Y that constains at least one kanji from X.
Example 1: the word 一般 would be moved to the front near words with kanji 一, because 般 only appears once in the text.
Example 2: kanji 皿 only appears once in the first 2k words. So, the word 皿 would be moved back near word 灰皿.
5) How to start working with the deck.
If you previously finished the Core 2k deck and you want to start using this deck.
I recommend that you suspend all cards with Nukikame-Core6k-Optimized-Voc-Index <= 2000
If you previously finished the Core 6k deck and you want to start using this deck.
I recommend that you suspend all cards with Nukikame-Core6k-Optimized-Voc-Index <= 6000
Note that Optimized-Voc-IndexOgirinal was created by matching word and sentence in cards from core-6000.txt deck with cards from "Core 6k Optimized" deck. About 5800 cards out of 6000 were matched.

One of the best

This deck is excellent. There's already a bunch of stuff in there; lots of different indexing methods, several example sentences per word, images, souds, pitch accents, and the wordtype/wordstructure fields make it easy to manipulate the deck, should you want to. I was going to add the RTK keywords to vocab with multiple Kanji ... until I realized that the deck already included 'em. Five stars, wholeheartedly recommend.
Furigana odd

Posted on 2014-06-25
I've recently started using this deck recently, from the start (6k section), and I notice lots of furigana readings are wrong or just off the mark, on the example sentences. For instance, the card for friday reads and lists normally きんようび but the furigana on examples read きにょうび. This makes me nervous, at least for the number counters, since that is a delicate subject I don't know too well. So far, I'm just ignoring most examples that I find dubious.
"Core 2k/6k Optimized Japanese Vocabulary" compatibility

Posted on 2014-06-21
Hi! I've been doing the "Core 2k/6k Optimized Japanese Vocabulary" (https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/1102215805) and I thing it is a really good deck for vocabulary, but when i reviewed the japanese decks I found this one! I'm looking forward to use it, but since my knowlege in Anki is limitated does anyone knows if I can use this deck without having to see all over again the cards that I've seen in the previous deck I was working with? Thanks in advance! It looks like a fantastic job.
Great MCD study

This deck actually made learning japanese fun. A high quality deck if there ever was one.
5*

Perfect

This has literally everything you could want regarding Core10k.
Good job.
This is the deck you want

If you've finished Reviewing the Kanji and want to build your vocabulary, this is a great deck.
Personally, I used this only for recognition, and deleted the production note type according to the instructions. I love this deck.
