She has recently been enjoying herself while spending time in sunny Los Angeles.

So it's no surprise Ellie Goulding wanted to cover up as she arrived back in chilly London on Saturday.

The singer rocked a flight-friendly look as she made her way through London Heathrow airport after her long-haul flight from the States, wearing an all-black ensemble, but with a decidedly glum look on her face.

The Burn hitmaker donned a pair of star-print black jogging bottoms and heavy biker boots, but clashed the more casual, tomboyish items with a smart, belted black coat.

She also opted for a pair of dark sunglasses as she stepped through the terminal, despite the darkened skies in the British capital.

Keeping it simple, the pop beauty wore her bright, blonde tresses loose in a casual style.

And, despite her long-haul flight, she looked fresh and stylish after stepping off the plane, although she failed to raise a smile.

Just before embarking on her flight, the 28-year-old had shared a selfie on her Instagram page, looking rather sad about having to leave the city to return to the UK, writing 'Bye LA' alongside it.

While in Los Angeles, Ellie had attended the surprise birthday party of DJ Skrillex, her ex-boyfriend: she also shared a photo from inside the soiree on her Instagram feed.

'Happy Birthday homie @skrillex,' she added in the comment alongside it.

She appeared to have gone to her former flame's birthday bash without her current boyfriend Dougie Poynter.

However, last weekend the sweet musical duo had looked more loved-up than ever as they sat front row at the Moschino show during London Collections: Men AW15.

The pair had clearly been taking style tips from one another as they turned up wearing similar outfits.

The duo were sporting rock 'n' roll ensembles comprising matching leather jackets, skinny jeans and ankle boots.

While Ellie opted for a black turtleneck, ripped trousers and studded boots, Dougie kept his bottom half simpler but jazzed up his look with a bold leopard print shirt.

The twosome had just returned from an idyllic holiday in Miami, and seemed relaxed after their several loved-up displays of affection while soaking up the sun on the beach.
