Dishing up some ace desserts! Serena and Venus Williams bring their A-game to the kitchen as they compete in cooking competition judged by Baz Lurhmann

They're currently Down Under for the Australian Open.

But Serena and Venus Williams took a break from the tennis court on Friday, instead lending their talents to the kitchen.

Attending a cocktail party at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, the sporting sisters took part in a dessert making challenge which was judged by Australian film director Baz Lurhmann.

Dressing to impress for the occasion, 33-year-old Serena sported a mini musk pink frock with a cute bird print splashed across the fabric.

The short dress showed off her athletic physique, and she wore her tresses out for the event hosted by Le Club Accorhotels.

Meanwhile 34-year-old Venus stunned in a chic white playsuit, the delicate number featuring frilled detail across the cut-out sleeves.

Venus's playsuit resembles the At First Sight Playsuit designed by Alice McCall, and considering the stunning sisters visited the Australian designer's showroom earlier in the week, that may very well be the particular playsuit Venus wore.

She teamed the stylish number with a matching white headscarf.

Meanwhile 52-year-old Baz looked quite dapper in a burgundy blazer.

He teamed the sleek jacket with a matching tie and a crisp white shirt, while a pair of light trousers finished off his look.

And when it came to judging the sweet delicacies, Baz took putting his taste buds to the test very seriously.

The 18-time Glam Slam winner Serena will be gunning for her sixth Australian Open title after failing to make it past the quarter final since her last win in 2010.

Meanwhile Venus will be starting on good form after winning the ASB Classic last week, beating Caroline Wozniacki 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 in Auckland, her first win since February.

Last year's winner China's Li Na has retired, but the sisters will face stiff competition from world number two Maria Sharapova, who won the Brisbane International last weekend.

Meanwhile former world number one Victoria Azarenka, who won the Australian Open in 2012 and 2013, might draw a top seed in the early rounds after she dropped from the top 32.
