He's visiting South Korea for the first time as part of a whirlwind promotional tour for his new film The Water Diviner.

And fans were out in their droves to catch a glimpse of action hero Russell Crowe as he arrived at Incheon International Airport on Saturday.

The Gladiator star was mobbed by a large crowd of people as he strolled through the terminal.

The kind-hearted actor stopped to take pictures with all his fans and sign autographs for them.

Russell had chosen a rather youthful look for his long-haul flight, wearing a green and red letterman jacket, denim jeans and trainers.

The 50-year-old star had warned his South Korean fans about his impending arrival hours before setting off.

Just before hitting the road, he tweeted: 'I’m off to South Korea on Saturday. My first time - who’s got the intel on Seoul?

'I wonder if anyone in South Korea knows I’m coming?', he added.

It hasn't taken him long to settle in since the fitness fanatic, who keeps his 1.64million Twitter followers updated with every detail of his strenuous exercise regime, hit the gym as soon as he arrived at his hotel.

The Water Diviner, which the actor both stars in and directs, tells the story of an Australian farmer who travels to Turkey after the Battle of Gallipoli during World War I to find his three missing sons.

He will take part in a press conference, red carpet and live chat during his time in the country.
