She seemed to be fine on Friday when she hit the gym in Beverly Hills.

But on Monday Melanie Griffith turned up for her training session with a nasty sore on her nose that looked very painful.

The 57-year-old gave no clue on her social media sites as to how she came by the blemish.

But even a Hollywood star's skin can't be perfect all the time.

Despite that, she smiled and appeared unbothered by the unsightly red blotch as she walked away from her black Bentley.

The actress wore a light pink jersey over black leggings with what looked like colourful images of stars and galaxies in the night sky, plus dark grey sneakers trimmed with pink.

She pulled her blonde hair into a messy updo and protected her eyes with aviator-style shades.

Melanie is a regular at personal trainer Gunnar Peterson's gym.

Gunnar is known for helping to keep celebrities including Jennifer Lopez and the Kardashians in shape with specialized workouts designed for each client.

Meanwhile Melanie, whose daughter Dakota Johnson will shortly be hitting theaters in the hotly anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey, celebrated her own mother Tippi Hedren's birthday with a sweet tweet.

'Today Happy Birthday to my Mama!!! Tippi turns 85 today!!' complete with hearts, kisses, red lipsticks and thumbs up emojis.

And Melanie has a busy year ahead of her with three projects listed on the Internet Movie Date Base.

Day Out Of Days, which is in post-production, is about an actress approaching 40 whose career is in a tailspin; Facing The Wind, in pre-production, co-stars Vera Farmiga and Evan Rachel Wood in the story of a model husband and father who commits an unimaginable act of violence.

She is also committed to Akil, about a young boy who flees Africa and takes refuge in an American woman's home in Spain.

However, as the film is written and directed by Melanie's ex, Antonio Banderas, it will be interesting to see whether it comes to fruition.

The couple filed for divorce last June after 18 years of marriage.

At the time, they issued a statement saying: 'We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalise our almost 20 years of marriage in a loving and friendly manner honouring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together.'

While Melanie hit the gym on Monday, her ex made an appearance on El Hormiguero TV show at Vertice Studio.

Antonio appeared on the TV show, which is filmed in Madrid, Spain, alongside host Pablo Motos sporting a fitted black sweater, dark blue jeans, and brown work boots.

The actor has recently been spotted traveling around Spain on holiday with his new girlfriend, Nicole Kimpel.
