'I’ve mainly been on shows where they just yank it and you find out later,' the actress said, adding that was what happened when her much loved dramedy, Gilmore Girls, was abruptly pulled in 2007 after eight years.

Lauren, who played single mother Lorelai Gilmore, said they had no idea they were shooting the last episode because there had been 'some back and forth' about the next season.

'I was in a restaurant and I'd turned my phone off, because that's polite, and a waiter comes to the table and he was like "Are you Lauren Graham? Your agent's on the phone."

The actress, hammed it up as she recalled; 'I thought like I'm in a Forties movie as I'm walking to the house phone and I pick it up and he says, "It's cancelled" and that's how I found out.'

Seth sympathised, saying: 'I like that his thought is she'll want to know during dinner.'

By comparison, the beautiful brunette, who also plays a single mother on Parenthood, was able to say a proper goodbye to the cast and crew.

That's good news for some viewers who have turned the show into a drinking game. 'Apparently, they drink if somebody breaks into tears,' she giggled.

And Seth had the audience in gales of laughter when he said he had his own version: 'I drink until I cry - it's called Tuesdays.'
