Engaged! Zooey Deschanel 'accepts proposal from Jacob Pechenik'... one week after revealing she's pregnant

It has been a busy month for Zooey Deschanel.

On January 14 the 34-year-old actress revealed to People that she's pregnant with her first child with new beau Jacob Pechenik, 42. 'Jacob and I are over the moon. We are so excited to meet our little one,' she told the site.

A week later - on Wednesday - UsWeekly reported the New Girl star is engaged.

There were no details about the proposal and if she was given an engagement ring.

It is known, however, that her baby is due this summer. 

Her older sister Emily, who stars on TV's Bones, is pregnant with her second child. The 38-year-old actress' husband is actor David Hornsby.

Zooey's new boyfriend is a producer. They worked together on her new movie Rock The Kasbah, about a washed-up American music manager who discovers a girl with an amazing voice in Afghanistan. Bruce Willis and Kate Hudson also star.

He has also produced 2013's Devil's Knot and 2014's She's Funny That Way. 

In mid August the couple showed their first PDA as they walked hand in hand in Venice Beach, California.

Weeks later at the 66th Emmy Awards, Jacob was seen planting a kiss on the Yes Man actress on the red carpet as she stood out in a strapless hot pink dress.

Last July, the 500 Days Of Summer star split from her boyfriend of two years, Jamie Linden.

Deschanel began dating 33-year-old Jamie shortly after her divorce from singer Ben Gibbard was finalised.

Zooey and Ben tied the knot in September 2009 but they split in 2011 after just two years of marriage.

In early 2014 Zooey said she hates being asked if she is ready to start a family.

The beauty noted, 'Nobody asks guys that.'

She then added, 'And you go into a supermarket and every tabloid is like, "Pregnant and Alone!" 

'They are stuck in the 1950s ideal of how a woman should live her life. This brings out the fiery feminist in me.'
