She's a busy working mother-of-three but Jennifer Garner can always make time for her children.

The 42-year-old actress - who is married to Ben Affleck - enjoyed an outing with son Samuel, two, in Los Angeles on Monday.

Jennifer went make-up free and kept it casual in jeans, trainers and an olive-green coat, as she and her little doppelganger popped out near her Brentwood home.

There was no sign of Ben, who is currently filming The Accountant in Atlanta, Georgia or their daughters Violet, eight, Seraphina, six, who were no doubt at school.

While these days Jennifer is the picture of health, the actress recently revealed her previous extreme dieting for acting roles.

She went on a diet to play a tough undercover spy for the CIA on TV's Alias from 2001 to 2006. And she also watched her weight to co-star with Ben Affleck in 2003's Daredevil.

But these days Jennifer Garner just can't bring herself to count calories all day.

'I dieted for so long in the middle of doing Alias and being a superhero, that there's something in me that can't do anything that extreme,' she told Yahoo Beauty last week.

'I mean, believe me, there's always a point in the fitting where I feel like, "Why didn't I just try to lose four pounds and then I could wear any dress?" I just can't though', she added.

But the West Virginia raised star still does her best to maintain a lean frame.

'With food I'm probably good 80 percent of the time,' the beauty said.

Jennifer added that she eats 'a lot of salads.'

But still there are some foods she cannot give up. 'I've found out that I cannot pass up pizza without having some. I just can't!

'My kids have a lot of pizza. I can't go to a kid's birthday party without having a slice.'
