She has only just revealed that she gave birth to her second child three weeks ago.

So, given Cobie Smulders' knack for keeping things a secret, it's no surprise she wanted to keep her newborn under wraps as she arrived at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old landed in LA after appearance at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, and kept her baby well and truly protected under her large coat.

The How I Met Your Mother star had stunned everyone when she revealed her news rather casually during an interview about her new movie Unexpected on Sunday.

While discussing the film - which follows the story of two women who find themselves pregnant at the same time - she said: 'I’m in Sundance and I have a three week old baby, so I can certainly relate [to the film's theme]'.

'It’s my world at the moment, and it’s just so prevalent in the world today,' she explained.

And on Wednesday, she made her first appearance since announcing her baby news to the world, keeping her infant close as she wrapped her red and black oversized houndstooth jacket around her body.

Looking remarkably fresh-faced for a mother with a newborn, she also appeared to be going make-up free but covered up in a wide-brimmed khaki hat, keeping her brunette tresses down in a wavy style.

She finished her jet-set look with a pair of flattering skinny jeans and lace-up trainers.

She was clearly in great spirits and revelling in her baby joy as she smiled while chatting to a companion while making her way through the terminal.

Cobie had impressed on the red carpet at Sundance, showing off her slimline post-pregnancy figure, leaving onlookers surprised that she was pregnant just three weeks beforehand.

The mother-of-two looked refreshed and pretty in her short skirt and t-shirt tucked in to show off her slender waistline, not giving so much as a hint to her recent pregnancy.

The Avengers star has yet to reveal any more details about her child's gender or name.

She only revealed she was expecting her second child with husband Taran Killam back in October, and previously admitted she didn't want to discover the sex of her baby until the birth.

The couple tied the knot in 2012 and also have a five-year-old daughter together, Shaelyn.
