'How she can act like this baby is nonexistent?' Sherri Shepherd's furious surrogate speaks out for first time and says she may be left footing child support bill

She was meant to give the gift of a child to parents who wanted one desperately - and used her own body to do so - now Jessica Bartholomew says she has been left angry and hurt by the woman she sacrificed for.

Jessica was the baby surrogate to former co-host of The View Sherri Shepherd but has now spoken out for the first time about the star’s decision not to be a part of Lamar Jr.’s life.

The surrogate has sat down with Inside Edition to tell of how her life has been since she claims Sherri walked out of the baby's life after splitting with her then-husband Lamar Sally.

'Angry': Jessica Bartholomew was the baby surrogate to former co-host of The View Sherri Shepherd but has now spoken out for the first time about the star’s decision not to be a part of Lamar Jr.’s life

Jessica has told the program, in an episode which airs Thursday night: 'I am angry with Sherri because she never once contacted me to tell me what was happening. It was kind of like I was left out in the cold.'

The 23-year-old waitress was contracted via a surrogacy agency to carry the baby - who was born August 5 and was created using Sherri's then husband's sperm and another woman's egg.

The gestational carried claims that while pregnant she was told the couple were getting divorced, but she was not informed that The View co-shot had decided to back out of the surrogacy agreement and never contacted personally.

If she had a chance to talk to the 47-year-old TV personality, Jess said there would be many questions.

If she had the chance: ''I would ask Sherri why she did what she did – if she thought it was okay to do something like that…I just don’t understand how she can act like this baby is nonexistent'

'I would ask Sherri why she did what she did – if she thought it was okay to do something like that…I just don’t understand how she can act like this baby is nonexistent. It just blows my mind.

'She would call up and check on me during the pregnancy in the beginning. At the 20 week appointment, she seemed very excited. She was going to see the baby for the first time…I didn’t see any warning signs right away.'

Sherri and her husband of three years both filed for divorce in May last year, and Sherri reportedly claimed Lamar had defrauded her by getting her to sign surrogacy papers knowing they were getting divorced in order to secure child support.

However, as their battle rages, Jessica claims that she is the one now facing paying child support - despite an agreement and not being the child's biological mother.

She told Inside Edition as there was no mother at the birth, she was written down on the birth certificate.

'I am now listed as a noncustodial parent in California. I have a child support case coming against me now.'

The child support case was triggered she said as Lamar applied for Medi-Cal, a California state program that provides free or low-cost health coverage for families with limited income and resources, as little Lamar Jr. has health problems.

Speaking to the program also Lamar said: '[Jessica] must be going through hell. I really feel sorry for her. I just want to apologize for putting her in the middle.'

A representative has yet to respond to the DailyMail.com's request for comment on Jessica's claims.

Lamar previously explained his situation exclusively to the DailyMail.com and said he was blindsided by Sherri's decision to split and walk away from the pregnancy.

The 44-year-old claims Sherri begged to have a child as soon as possible as she didn't 'want to be an old mom'.

He said: 'Actually, that is one of the reasons we married after only a year - because she was ready to do this.

'I wanted to wait another year or two to get married but having a baby with me was so important to her I said ''OK, let's do it.''

'I waited 40 years to get married and have kids. I wanted to do things the right way. Never wanted to have children out of wedlock and only be a weekend or checkbook dad.

'But we were having trouble conceiving so she went through in vitro fertilization, like she did with Jeffrey [her first son].'

After finding Sherri's eggs were not viable, they thought it best to use a surrogate.

Lamar explained: 'Finding the surrogate was a long process. From the time we decided to do this and finding the right person took about 8 months. So that's why I don't understand why Sherri can say I duped her into this or that she is not responsible for this child. It's mind boggling to me.

'I was absolutely floored by that but then she decided she didn't want the baby either.

'Sherri told me, "It's your sperm, not my egg so it's your baby."

'It was like she had ripped my heart out of my chest, this was not the Sherri I knew and not the woman I fell in love with and married.'
