Taking a break from the red carpet: Naomi Watts goes make-up free as she runs errands in a low-key printed shirt and skinny jeans

It's been an eventful few weeks for Naomi Watts.

The usually-private actress has been throwing herself into the spotlight by dazzling on the red carpet at a string of award ceremonies - including the Screen Actors Guild Awards earlier this week.

However, on Wednesday, the 46-year-old decided to give herself a break from the public glare and opted to go incognito when she stepped out in Los Angeles to run a few errands.

Giving her skin a rest, Naomi appeared makeup-free as she strolled along in the Californian sun but hid her flawless complexion under a pair of over-sized shades.

For her day out, the star wore a pair of grey skinny jeans, which showed off her long toned legs. She teamed the bottoms a star print shirt and a black woolly cardigan.

Naomi then completed her look with a chic blazer and a pair of nude flat shoes.

Born in England, Naomi moved to Australia with her mother and brother at the age of 14, when she first started to study acting.

But it wasn’t until she was 32 that the star was given her first big break by David Lynch in his critically acclaimed film Mulholland Drive - for which she earned Best Actress Awards from a number of critics’ organizations, including the National Board of Review and National Society of Film Critics.

In 2003, Naomi starred alongside Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s 21 Grams for which she received her first Oscar nomination. That same year, she was chosen to play ‘Ann Darrow’ in director Peter Jackson’s King Kong.

However, she narrowly missed out on winning the gong for her performance in St Vincent to Boyhood star Patricia Arquette.
