Relaxed Cate Blanchett throws stilettos aside to walk BAREFOOT across AACTAs stage after going commando on red carpet

She had heads turning when she hit the 2015 AACTA Awards red carpet, stunning in a pink Alexander McQueen gown and claiming she'd gone commando for the night.

And it seems Cate Blanchett continued her relaxed style when stepping onto the stage at the prestigious awards ceremony hours later.

The 45-year-old Hollywood star appeared in a sleek black mid-length dress, before deciding to ditch her stylish heels for a barefoot look.

Appearing on stage alongside The Secret Life Of Us star Deborah Mailman, Blanchett assured the audience there would be a dance-off later in the show.

Challenging her co-host to the fun contest, she took off her sleek shoes and remained on stage barefoot.

Blanchett stunned in the satin frock with a conservative, higher neckline and dramatic trumpet sleeves.

Falling just below the knee, Cate's dress showcased a glimpse of her toned legs.

Wearing her luscious blonde locks out in loose waves, the actress finished off her look with a pair of glimmering green earrings.

As a co-host of the awards night celebrating Australian film and television, Cate exuded her signature charisma on stage alongside Deborah.

She also shared her humorous side, joking she was one of the stars approached to appear in reality series I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.

While she had promised a dance-off at the end of the night, it seems Cate decided to save her dance moves for the after party instead.

Stepping out on the red carpet earlier in the night and admitting, she's 'not wearing any knickers tonight', the actress stole the show in a ravishing plunging silk gown in a powdery pink hue.

The Old Hollywood style frock by Alexander McQueen complimented the Oscar winner's alabaster complexion and light blonde finger waves, which floated whimsically in the breeze.

Hugging her every curve, the gown featured dramatic trumpet sleeves with black silk trim.

Cate accessorised the show-stopping look with simple black hoop earrings and towering black heels adorned with an oversized bow.

She arrived alongside fellow actress Deborah, who donned a form-fitting black Pallas Couture dress.

Featuring a thigh-high slit, Deborah's legs were on show in the classy ensemble which also featured cut-out detail across its cap-sleeves.

She wore the same outfit once on stage, while Cate opted for a costume change.

Blue Jasmine actress Cate lead a convoy of dazzling stars on Thursday, including Rose Byrne, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Mia Wasikowska, to kick off the Australian film and television industry's night of nights.
