Stop Snoozing, Start Sweating: Become a Morning Exerciser Today!

Set your Coffee Maker the Night Before
There's no shame in having a cup of java before you exercise. In fact, a number of recent studies show it can help you work out longer, harder, and make you go faster. Plus, nothing can make you feel better about getting out of bed than the smell of freshly brewed java wafting your way.

Upgrade your Alarm Clock
Before you can turn off the Wake Up Workout Alarm Clock ($29.95, gadgetsandgear.com), you need to do thirty bicep curls. By the time you bang out those reps, you’ll be rarin’ to start the day the right way.

Create a Get-Moving Playlist
Put your favorite feel-good songs on standby and listen to them while you put on your workout clothes and lace up your sneakers. Pick songs that motivate you to move!

Wear Workout Clothes you Love
No one wants to go anywhere, let alone the gym, feeling frumpy. Go ahead and sleep in your cozy, old sweats and over-sized t-shirts, but don’t workout it them. Instead, invest in clothes you like wearing and that make you feel good about yourself, no matter what size you are.

Take a Day Off
Yes, you heard us right. Allow yourself the reward of sleeping in once in a while. Wednesday is a great day to take off. Work out early on Monday and Tuesday, give yourself a break, and then you’ll only have two more days until the weekend.

Buddy Up
It’s easier to get out of bed when you know someone is waiting for you. Feeling guilty for bailing on your friend, personal trainer, or workout partner provides instant accountability. Even if you can’t meet up, you and a chum can text each other when you start or stop your workouts for virtual support.

Keep Motivation in Sight
Keep a picture of yourself at your healthy weight, a photo of the bathing suit you want to wear this summer, or a quote that inspires you next to your bed. Before you hit snooze and roll over, take a look and remember why you’re doing this. For tons of motivational fitness quotes, check out our 60 Day Summer Slimdown Board on Pinterest right here.

Channel Michelle Obama
If our First Lady can get up at 4:30 in the morning to work out, then the rest of us don’t have an excuse. She’s just a tad bit busier than the rest of us. How does she do it? She’s said, “If I had to get up to go to work, I'd get up and go to work. If I had to get up to take care of my kids, I'd get up to do that. But when it comes to yourself, then it's suddenly, ‘Oh, I can't get up at 4:30.’ So I had to change that. If I don't exercise, I won't feel good.” Keep her (and her arms!) in mind the next time your alarm goes off.
