After having been successful on the Eurovision Song Contest stage with rock, Finland will send something different to the 2009 edition to Moscow: the group Waldo's People got the highest number of televotes in the Finnish final and will now present their song Lose Control - a dance anthem - in the Russian capital.

After three weeks of Semi-finals in Finland, the grand final of Eurovision Laulukilpailu took place in the Leonardo Hall in Tampere tonight. 12 artists fought for the honour of representing their native country Finland in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest - and it was Waldo's People who managed to convince the televoting audience! They will now perform their song Lose Control in the first of two Semi-Finals of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest which will take place in Moscow's Olimpiskiy Hall on the 12th of May!

Waldo's People won the superfinal tonight against the two other competitors Signmark feat. Osmo Ikonen and Passionworks feat. Tony Turunen who had also reached the second stage of televoting in the Finnish final tonight. The group had already been tipped as one of the favourites as they had won their Semi-Final earlier in January. They got 45,1% of the votes tonight in the superfinal with Signmark feat. Osmo Ikonen coming close second with 41,2%.

Finland managed to reached the final in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest with the group Teräsbetoni who ended up in 22nd position ultimately.
