Milton Keynes Dons midfielder Dele Alli has been named the Sky Bet League 1 Player of the Month for Janaury.

Alli is allying consistency with energy, and has staggering assurance for a teenager.

He showed tremendous skill and composure for the opener against Barnsley and swept home an injury-time equaliser at Crawley Town.

Alli’s good form was rewarded with a move to Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur on transfer deadline day, but he has been loaned back to MK Dons for the remainder of the season.

Dons manager Karl Robinson said: “It’s been quite a month for Dele and I was extremely impressed with the way he handled it all. He is mature beyond his years and that is translating onto the football field with some terrific performances.

“We’re all immensely proud of Dele for his achievements but I know he’s fully focused on maintaining his excellent form for the remainder of the season.”

Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “You feel that at this stage of his career Dele Alli has everything in his hands. Supremely talented, and brimming with confidence, he has a great future.

“I'm sure he'll get his head down for the rest of the season and continue putting in performances for MK Dons before he joins up with his new Spurs team-mates.”

Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “The MK Dons' top scorer continued his great scoring record with two January goals, including the last-minute equaliser against Crawley.

“The Dons have moved into second place in Sky Bet League 1 over this period and Dele’s form has been a major factor.”

The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
