Natalie Portman shows off her slender figure in a demure black dress as she is joined by Christian Bale at Berlin Film Festival premiere of Knight Of Cups

While the majority of Hollywood was walking the red carpet at the EE Bafta Awards in London, Natalie Portman was putting on a showstealing display in Germany.

The stunning actress hit the red carpet at for the premiere of her new film King of Cups at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival Berlinale.

Wowing onlookers in a demure black dress, which featured a belted corset and a gathered skirt, the 33-year-old looked flawless thanks to her minimal make-up and chic up do.

Adding simple diamond earrings a bracelet, Natalie also carried a square clutch with a chain for all her event essentials.

She was subsequently joined by her co-star Christian Bale, who looked dapper in a black suit and matching shirt.

The Batman star arrived to the event with his wife Sibi Blazic, who had also stuck to the theme and in a demure black lace dress.

Natalie and Christian then lined up for a photo with the cast and crew of the movie, a romantic fantasy drama film.

The pair weren't the only ones who put on a chic sartorial display at the festival.

Actress Laura Linney hit the red carpet earlier in the evening for a screening of her new film, Mr Holmes.

She sported a similar style to her fellow actors, opting for a monochrome cowl neck top and black wide-legged trousers.

She met up with the movie's lead, Sir Ian McKellen, who plays a 93-year-old Sherlock Holmes, who now lives in the countryside with his housekeeper Mrs Munro, played by Linney.

Earlier in the day, Natalie and Christian had headed to the 65th Berlin International Film Festival Berlinale where they cosied up for a series of shots on the red carpet.

Natalie cut an elegant figure wearing a dress in the style of a coat which had a plunging neckline and buttons running down the front.

She teamed the number with elegant court shoes and wore a choker necklace which drew the eye to the decolletage.  

Giving a nod to a bygone era, Natalie wore her hair in vintage-style curls as she stood with her arm around Christian, 41.

The actress noticeably was not joined on the red carpet by her husband Benjamin Millepied, whom she has been with since 2009.

Bale, opted for a casual style in a simple pair of jeans, which he wore with trainers and a smrt navy shirt, with his long locks giving Natalie's a run for her money.
