Lady Gaga and Katy Perry rock out to AC/DC as iconic Aussie band nail opening act at the Grammys... but needed help with their own lyrics from a teleprompter

They have dozens of hits under their belts.

So Aussie rock band AC/DC just might be excused for using a teleprompter to help them along with their own lyrics at the 57th annual Grammys in LA on Sunday night.

A photo from the Staples Centre posted by Gawker revealed that the rockers needed a helping hand with their latest single, Rock Or Bust, as they opened the show in stellar style.

The aid didn't stop the rockers from bringing the house down with the snippet from their latest album, with celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and even Jane Fonda, jumping from their seats and rocking out.

Roar singer Katy even donned a pair of the red devil horns associated with the rock band as the crew belted out their 1979 hit Highway To Hell while the stage lit up with flames.

So electrifying was their performance, Lady Gaga turned to her companion Tony Bennett to gush about how 'amazing' they were on stage.

Crooner Tony even looked like he was enjoying their tunes, while The Beatles Paul McCartney moved to the beat.

Illuminate your look like Lady Gaga in a silver metallic dress

When it comes to Lady Gaga, you never know what you're going to get. One day she could be wearing vertiginous platform shoes and a onesie, the next a dress made out of meat. For tonight's ceremony she decided on an ultraglam look in a custom gown by stylist turned designer, Brandon Maxwell and strappy sandals.

He's worked with some of the biggest stars in Hollywood and styled the covers of major magazines like Harper's Bazaar and Elle, so Brandon Maxwell knows a thing or two about fashion. He has collaborated with the Born This Way singer for years and judging by this look, we'll be seeing a lot more from this young talent.

If you're like us, you don't have your own personal stylist to create one-of-a-kind gowns for you. But you do have our style edit before, chock full of silvery creations. Wear with black heels and a box clutch and you'll be red carpet ready.

Frontman Brian Johnson, 67, belted out the tunes in his signature flat cap.

While lead guitarist Angus Young, 59, headbanged and strung out on his guitar in his typical, manic schoolboy uniform.

As the camera shot back to host LL Cool J he couldn't help but use the cheesy pun, referring to them as 'devilishly good'.

Meanwhile, AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was noticeably absent from the line up.

While his bandmates were rocking for the exclusive crowd, it was revealed that he will stand trial in April on charges of threatening to kill and drug possession, court officials in New Zealand ruled Monday.

Paul, 60, will face a judge-alone trial in the Tauranga District Court beginning on April 21, officials said.

The veteran rocker has pleaded not guilty to the charges, which stem from a police raid on his waterfront North Island mansion on November 6.

Chris Slade, who has been a part of the line-up in the past, sat in on drums for the occasion as Paul continues to fight his legal woes.

AC/DC won a Grammy in 2010 for best hard rock performance for War Machine and have previously been nominated for six other awards - mostly Best Performance.

While the race for album of the year is hotly anticipated, the performances are likely to dominate social media and conversation.

Kanye West, Ed Sheeran, Madonna, Hozier, and Ariana Grande have also performed for the VIP audience.
