Most actresses relish attention, but Dakota Johnson would prefer to fly under the radar.

The 25-year-old starlet was seen heading to dinner in New York City on Saturday wearing a cropped leopard and leather jacket just days before her much-anticipated film Fifty Shades Of Grey hits theaters.

Looking radiant with glowing pink cheeks and bright pink lips, the actress revealed she feels intimidated by fame even as she is set to become a household name thanks to her racy role playing leading lady Anastasia Steele, the innocent student journalist who falls in love with a rich, controlling billionaire with a kinky side.

The daughter of actors Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson told the Sunday Telegraph newspaper: 'There is something very scary about thinking everyone in the world [will] know who I am.'

In fact, she admits she had doubts about whether or not to accept the role in the eagerly-awaited film.

Asked whether she questioned her decision, she said: 'Yes. Of course. Absolutely. The whole time. Even now there are moments when I think, "What the f*** have I done?" But most of the time I feel pretty solid about it.'

Dakota, who stars alongside Jamie Dornan, 32, in the erotic film, said that although she grew up in the entertainment industry, she is not impressed by the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.

She revealed: 'I grew up around really not normal people.

'My family is general Hollywood. They're all artists: creative people who are advocates for expressing themselves. But I also have to say I'm not impressed by Hollywood.'

Dakota and Jamie, who play star-crossed lovers locked in an unconventional romance involving implements, blindfolds and a red leather-lined 'room of pain', cuddled up to one another as they walked arm-in-arm down the red carpet at a New York fan screening of the film on Thursday night.

The pretty brunette sported a white angora sweater with a leather skirt as she wore her hair in a sexy tangle over her shoulders.

And her co-star was equally striking in a crisp black suit with an open collared white shirt as he donned brown wingtips.

The film is based on the very popular 2011 erotic novel of the same name written by EL James, which is known for its explicit scenes involving bondage, dominance and BDSM.

Dakota, granddaughter of The Birds star Tippi Hedren and former step-daughter of Antonio Banderas - said she's comfortable appearing nude on screen, but that doesn't mean she wants her family to see it.

'I don’t want them to see it. I wouldn’t want to see them doing it.'

Fifty Shades of Grey hits theaters February 13.
