Reese SHIVERspoon! Actress is forced to cover up on the BAFTA red carpet in a tuxedo jacket after joking 'nobody warned' her about the British weather

It's a well-known fact that the UK doesn't have the most tropical of climes, particularly in the month of February.

But unfortunately for Reese Witherspoon, she was unaware of the freezing conditions that awaited her as she walked the red carpet at the 2015 BAFTAs at London's Royal Opera House on Sunday evening.

Joking 'nobody warned' her about the chilly British weather, the 38-year-old star - who was nominated for Best Leading Actress for her role in Wild - was forced to cover up in a men's tuxedo jacket as she signed autographs for her fans.

Looking worlds away from sunny Hollywood as she draped the black garment over her shoulders, the actress poked fun at her predicament as she sashayed along the red carpet.

Chatting to MailOnline, Reese joked: 'It's cold, nobody warned me!'

When she removed her jacket, the striking starlet showcased the full effect of her plunging purple gown in all its glory.

Putting on a sassy display as she worked her magic in front of the cameras, Reese rocked extreme cleavage in her dramatic Stella McCartney dress, which featured a long train.

She said of her BAFTA outfit: 'I'm so happy to wear Stella McCartney, she's my girl. I'm always thrilled to wear her clothes, and she takes great care of her girls.'

Reese looked incredible for the evening, teaming her striking gown with lightly-tousled locks and smokey eye make-up.

But while the star certainly looked the part, she sadly missed out on the Best Leading Actress gong to Julianne Moore, who bagged the award for her role in Still Alice.

Reese had been nominated for her role as Cheryl Strayed in biographical movie, Wild.

And while she might have lost out on the top spot, the humble actress insisted that to be nominated in the category made her feel like a winner.

She told MailOnline prior to the ceremony: 'This is just such a huge honour and such a great group of people to be nominated with.'

And the mother-of-three went as far as to describe her part in Wild as 'the greatest role' of her entire acting career to date.

Meanwhile, Reese presented the Best Supporting Actor gong to JK Simmons for his role in Whiplash.
