Zachary, 37, and Miles, 24, took it in turns to hold on tightly to the leashes of their large Irish Wolfhound-terrier mix, Noah, and little terrier, Skunk.

The couple, who have been together for 18 months, both wrapped up warm in thick coats and jeans with Zachary also opting for heavy boots.

He is currently riding high on the success of I Am Michael which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last month.

The film directed by Justin Kelly, is based on the 2011 New York Times Magazine article, My Ex-Gay Friend.

It tells the story of Michael Glatze, who is 'saved' from homosexuality after finding religion and moves to the forefront of the anti-gay movement.

James Franco stars as Glatze while Zachary portrays his lover.

In a Sundance interview with the Salt Lake Tribune newspaper, Zachary said he identified with his character, Bennett.

'I like what the character that I play represents in the film, which is integrity and groundedness and authenticity and acceptance of who he is,' he said.

'And those are all qualities that I strive for in my own life, so I thought that those parallels were apt. I really liked the script. I really liked the director.'
